Human Capital Flight – a.k.a. Brain Drain

Human Capital Flight – a.k.a. Brain
Drain
Student: Jairo Ivan Oviedo Carreño
Human capital flight or brain drain is the most
important problem to some countries like Iran,
México, Cuba, China, Brazil and India to give
some examples. This happens because they
don´t have the opportunities to give good
employment to their people or students who
look for a job that can offer them a descent
salary for their knowledge and activities.
Since those countries can´t be a good place
to study or prepare their students to work
in a big level, the students prefer to go to
other countries; México has this situation.
One example is medicine students that leave
México and go to the U.S. because they find
cutting edge technology that doesn´t exist
in México´s universities. This affects our
economy since this kind of people don´t come
back, increasing the cost of many products
and services.
Also when our scientist, administrators,
engineers or doctors go to other places; in
México only stay those people who studied
elementary school or high school. They don´t
have the skills or abilities to innovate new
science systems or school systems to help our
younger talents to stay here.
