DRIVING DIRECTIONS FROM WASHINGTON, DC, AREA TO CARLISLE BARRACKS
Fastest Route
From Washington, DC, take Route 270 North to Frederick, MD, then Route 15 North past Gettysburg to Dillsburg.
Turn left onto Route 74 (York Rd) NW toward Carlisle. After 5-7 miles you will pass Mayapple Golf Course on left;
take next right onto Fairview Street. At the next traffic light turn right onto Army Heritage Drive. Go straight
through next traffic light, then at the end of Army Heritage Drive, turn left onto Claremont Road. Follow to signs to
proceed thru the Security area to entrance of Carlisle Barracks.
Alternate Route
Instead of turning on Route 74 at Dillsburg, continue North on Route 15 to PA Turnpike. Take Turnpike West to
Carlisle exist #226. Immediately after toll booth, bear right onto Route 11. Proceed to second stop light
and turn left onto Harmony Hall Road. At the end of Harmony Hall Road, turn right onto Claremont Road.
Proceed approximately one-half mile; signs will be posted to proceed thru the security area to entrance of Carlisle
Barracks.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS FROM HARRISBURG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO CARLISLE BARRACKS
Depart from Harrisburg International Airport (HIA) on Terminal Road, then merge onto Airport Connector. Stay
straight to go onto PA-283 W. Merge onto I-283 S toward I-76/PA Turnpike. Merge onto I-76 W/PA Turnpike and
head towards Pittsburgh. Exit the I-76/PA Turnpike at EXIT 226 – Carlisle (cost is $1.25). After paying toll, take
immediate right exit towards Carlisle/Harrisburg Pike/Route 11 S. Go approximately .8 miles to the intersection of
Harrisburg Pike/Route 11 S and Harmony Hall Road. Make a left onto Harmony Hall Road. Go approximately .4
miles and at the stop sign make a right onto Claremont Road. Follow the blue signs toward Carlisle Barracks.
Approaching Carlisle Barracks, turn left into the security area. If you do not have a decal, please proceed to the
check point. The security guard will do a brief inspection and then tell you to proceed to the gate guard, show the
temporary pass and then continue onto of Carlisle Barracks.

After exiting either the PA Turnpike or
Interstate 81, take state highway 11
“Harrisburg Pike”- South. Turn LEFT onto
Harmony Hall Road at the traffic light (look
for Sheetz gas station on the corner).
Follow this road to the T-junction and turn
RIGHT onto Claremont Road, proceed
approximately one mile, and follow the
signs into the Carlisle Barracks entrance.
Your vehicle will be checked at the security
checkpoint before entry . For your own
insurance, ensure that you either use
Yahoo or Google Maps to get specific
driving directions from your location.

Entering Carlisle Barracks
When entering off of Claremont Road pay special attention to the posted “NO TURN” signs.
DO NOT follow your GPS, it may result in an improper entry attempt onto Carlisle Barracks. Signs are posted on Claremont Road; follow
them to the “Claremont Gate” Access Control Point. Turn onto Jim Thorpe Road from Claremont Road and loop around to the Security
Guards (map below). If you DO NOT have a DOD sticker on your vehicle, you must use the VISITORS LANE. Each person in the vehicle must
present proper valid identification. Inform the Security Guard what function you are attending.

Directions once you are officially on Carlisle Barracks
Once the Security Guard has checked you in, proceed straight across Claremont Road onto Carlisle Barracks.
