WHITNEY CEMETERY
Whitney Cemetery was located in Sect. 2,
Twp. 2, Range 20, New London Twp., on the east side
of Chenango Road just north of Fayette Road on the
present Don Erswell farm. The cemetery was on hIs
property between the house and barn, and he helped
move the stones to Grove St. Cemetery, New London,
and recalls the name WHITNEY.
Andrew Snyder
additionally related that this was known as the
Bristol Place and that there were about 8
tombstones in the yard. His cousin told him that
he saw a stone in 1929 that said "died 1829", just
100 years old at that time. [There are no pre-1830
gravestones currently remaining in Grove Street
Cemetery.]
