What is ILeVO ? ILeVO is the first-ever seed-applied fungicide that will provide breakthrough protection for soybean seedlings from Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS). In Bayer CropScience research and field trials, ILeVO seed treatment has shown excellent activity against early-season infection in soybeans. ® ® How does ILeVO work? ILeVO seed treatment is absorbed by the germinating seed and moves systemically into the seedling’s roots, cotyledons and developing leaves (called unifoliates), where its unique mode of action provides early plant protection against SDS. For which crop is ILeVO labeled? Bayer CropScience has applied for registration of ILeVO seed treatment for use on soybeans to provide control of SDS, a soybean-specific disease. When will ILeVO be registered for use? Bayer CropScience anticipates the U.S. EPA registration approval for ILeVO seed treatment by the end of 2014. U.S. EPA registration is anticipated by the end of 2014. What is the economic impact of Sudden Death Syndrome in the United States? From 2009 to 2011, average losses in the U.S. were estimated at 42 million bushels a Discovery of SDS in the United States year or $543.9* million per year.1 This is a significant upward trend, showing how the disease is spreading and intensifying. From 1999 to 2004, average losses were estimated at $190 million a year.2 1993 2005 What kinds of yield losses can be expected from SDS? SDS is now among the top four yield-robbing diseases in soybeans. Yield losses that are commonly reported are 20 to 30 percent of a crop, but cases have occurred where yields were reduced by greater than 70 percent due to SDS. *Commodity price at $12.95 per bushel in July 2014. 1 C.
