Russian Civil war is a multi-player game with optional solitaire rules, but this article uses the multi-player rules. Up to six can play, and this article reports on such a match-up. I have changed the actual names of the players to correspond with Russian names beginning with the letters “A” through “F.” 1layer A is referred to as Aleksei, player B is Boris, player C is Georgi, D is Dmitri, E is Egor and player F is Fyodor. Opening Trades Egor trades White leader Rodzyanko to Aleksei for Red leader Rykov. Aleksei trades Smirnov, Sytin and Slavin to Georgi for Wrangel. Player order begins with Aleksei. (A die was rolled and each player was assigned 1-6. Aleksei was assigned “1” S&T 267 | AFTER ACTION REPORT | MAR-APR 2011 and a one was rolled on the d6. Play will continue in a clockwise fashion) Turn One, June-October 1918 Aleksei Event: Epidemic in Poland. There are three Polish Armies stacked in Warsaw. One is lost to attrition. Movement White: In Kuban, Gen. Denikin and his White Army (4) move to Rostov and attach the White forces there (8) and then continue moving northward through Saratov where he attaches another army (2) and then to arrives in Samara, adding another unit (2). Samara is a critical city. Then Gen. Krasnov leaves Rostov and moves to Kirghiz where he attaches a White A1 Russian Civil War Turn 1b Army (2). From Kirghiz, he moves southward to Stavropol where he stacks with Gen. Sidorin’s Army. Combat No combat actions are undertaken. Randomizer One critical city is controlled by Aleksei’s White forces, Samara. This allows 2 chits to be selected. The first is the Felix Dzherinisky Assassin. The second is British Control. Aleksei marks the British units. Fyodor Event: General Strike. Expending two of these markers allows one to be first player for the turn. A2 Movement White: In Siberia, General Kappel departs from Omsk and moves to Chelyabinsk, then to the Kazakh Steppe and on to Turkestan where he attaches the White Army (2). In the Cossack Region, Gen. Dutov takes his White Army (2) and links up with Admiral Kolchak in Omsk, Siberia. Then in Uralsk, General Romanovsk heads west through the Cossack Region and into the Ukraine. He moves into Yekaterinoslav prepared to battle the Nationalists. Red: In Russia, Gen. Voroshilov and his Red Army (6), move from Kursk to Pskov. Gen. Antonov moves from Vitebsk joining the rest of the Red forces in Pskov. In Petrograd, Gen. Peterson crosses the border and attaches the Red Army (2) in Finland. He must stop his movement due to enemy units S&T 267 | AFTER ACTION REPORT | MAR-APR 2011 there. In the Ukraine, Gen. Bela Kun attaches the Red Army (3) in Grondo. Combat Gen. Voroshilov and the Red Army in Pskov conduct a subversive attack against the Central Powers Army (3) in Vitebsk. Note: Subversive Attacks symbolize the demoralization of intervention forces by means of propaganda campaigns. It is generally safer than regular combat for the attacker as the attacker cannot take losses. The attack is at 6-1 and is successful. The Central Powers unit is eliminated as a combat force. In Kharkov, Gen. May-Maevisky and his White Army attack the Nationalist forces (2) at 5-1 odds. The Nationalist unit is eliminated. Russian Civil War Randomizer Randomizer Georgi Fyodor controls Omsk, Sevastopol, and Kharkov with White Armies and selects 2 chits. The first is an armored train. The train is deployed with Admiral Kolchak in Omsk. Then a Terror chit is selected. This is useful in subversive attacks. Egor’s White forces control Tashkent and Archangel which allows two chits to be drawn. The first is the Anarchists Strike. The other is Trans-Caucasus Control The TransCaucasus Control is favorable as Egor’s Red troops occupy Baku. The Anarchist Strike allows Egor to make an attack with an anarchist unit. Event: Epidemic Spreads to Mongolia. The Nationalist Army (2) is eliminated along with the Red Army (2). The Chinese units are unaffected. Egor Event: Epidemic. An epidemic passes through Central Asia. The Red Army (4) in Tashkent is decimated. (Boris) The Nationalist armies (2) in Tashkent, Bukhara, and Turkestan are all eliminated. A White Army (2) in Turkestan is also lost to attrition. (Fyodor) Movement Reds: Gen. Sivers moves his Army (2) from Yelizaverpol to Baku. In Russia, Gen.Tukhachevsky heads south with his Red Army (8) and joins Budyenny in Orel. Gen. Berzin also moves to Orel. Whites: In Siberia, Gen. Khanzin and his White Army (3) launch an expedition into Central Asia, which takes them to the critical city of Tashkent. Gen. Lukomsky remains satisfied at his headquarters in Kuban. Combat Gen. Tukhachevsky launches a subversive campaign aimed at the Central Powers army (3) in Chernigov. At 6-1 this is an automatic success. The Central Powers unit becomes demoralized and returns home. In the Trans-Caucasus Region, Red forces led by Gen. Rykov and Sivers attack the British contingent (Aleksei). This attack is 3-1. The British are wiped out. In Central Asia, Gen. Khanzin’s White Army attacks the remnant of Gen. Kolesov’s forces. The Red Army was lost due to the epidemic leaving just Kolesov’s unit. The attack is 4-1. Gen. Kolesov is captured. (Boris) Dmitri Event: Epidemic. The Nationalist Army (4) in Kiev is struck down with the plague. Also the Red Army (3) in Kaluga is lost. This had been led by Kalinin (Georgi). Movement In Russia, Gen. Frunze and his Red Army (4) move from Vladimir to Kursk, where they meet up with Stalin. Generals Gaii and Kamenev also move to Kursk. Then in Siberia, General Bogomoletz moves his Red Army (2) from Krasnoyarsk to Novo-Nikolaevsk. Combat In Siberia, Gen. Blucher and Bogomoletz conduct subversive attacks against the Czech army (3) in Omsk. This is a 2-1 attack. It has no effect. The advantage of the subversive attack is that there is no chance of attacker losses. Another subversive attack is launched against the Central Powers Army (3) in Poltava. The propaganda campaign originates from the Red forces in Kursk. This one is resolved at 3-1 and is successful. The Central Powers unit is eliminated. Randomizer The Red Army controls Kazan so Dmitri gets two chits. The first is Japanese control. The other is the Natasha Z. assassin. This gives Dmitri three assassin chits. S&T 267 | AFTER ACTION REPORT | MAR-APR 2011 Movement Whites: In the Cossack Region, Gen. Ulagi moves from Astrakhan to Tiflis in the Trans-Caucasus Region to attach the White Army (2). He then moves to the city Stavropol. Then Gen. Markov moves from the Terek District to link up with Ulagi in Stavropol. Reds: Gen. Smirnov moves from Orel to Moscow, where he is later joined by Gen. Kalinin and Slavin. Gen. Sytin is called to Petrograd to join Vladimir Lenin. Then Trotsky moves with the Red Army (8) to Smolensk, where he is joined by Gen. Sablin. Combat Georgi uses his Red forces to conduct subversive propaganda attacks against the Central Powers units. Trotsky’s forces conduct a 4-1 attack against the Central Powers Army (3) in Mohilev. This fails miserably. Lenin too organizes subversion against the Central Powers forces in Finland This is also a 3-1 attack. It also fails. Randomizer Georgi’s Red forces control Moscow and Petrograd so he gets two picks. The first is Poland Control. That is a powerful one. The second is Cordon Sanitaire, a replacements phase chit. Boris Event: Epidemic. The epidemic spreads to Stavropol. Two White armies (2) and (4) are lost (Georgi, Aleksei). In Novo-Nikolaevsk, Siberia a Red Army is eliminated (Dmitri). A3 Russian Civil War Movement Whites: In the Cossack Region, Gen. Kornilov moved from Rostov to Astrakhan. Reds: In Smolensk, Gen. Zinoviev moves with his Red Army (6) to Rostov. Then Gen. Sorokin moves with his Army (4) from Ufa to Rostov where he joins Zinoviev. Gen. BonchBruevich boards a train with his Red Army (3) in Olonetz, and travels to Petrograd, Novgorod, Moscow, Tula, Orel, Kursk, Chernigov, and detrains at Kiev, where he sets up his headquarters. There is no combat Randomizer Boris controls Rostov, Astrakhan, and Kiev, which allows two chits. The first is Central Asia Nationalists Control. The other chit is an uprising. This occurs in Kazan. Turn 2a Movement Randomizer Whites: In Stavropol, Gen. Sidorin attaches the White Army (3). In Estonia, Gen. Rodzyanko and his White Army (2) move to Riga. In the Ukraine, Gen. Abramov moves from Yekaterinoslav to Sevastopol. From the port, he crosses the Kerch Straits to Kuban, and then moves to Terek and Tiflis where he attaches a White Army (3) Aleksei controls Samara which gains two chits. The first is Comintern. The second is Japan out. So the Japanese forces board ships in Vladivostok and sail to the home island. The Comintern chit is useful in subversive attacks. Turn Two, November-April 1919 Reds: In Russia, Gen. Vatzetis and his Army (3) in Yaroslavl advance to Kaluga where he attaches another army (3). From Kaluga, they move on the Smolensk. Gen. Kidvidze moves his Red Army (2) from Vladivostok to Spasskoye. Aleksei Combat Event: Epidemic. The epidemic spreads to the Ukraine. In Yekaterinoslav, a White Army (3) is reduced to nothing. (Aleksei). Greater Russia is not immune. In Pskov, Gen. Abramov’s Red Army (4) is decimated. (Fyodor) Likewise, Gen. Voroshilov’s Red Army (6) is lost. (Fyodor.) Gen. Vatzetis and his Red forces attempt a subversive attack against the Central Powers Army (3) in Mohilev. This attack is 2-1 and fails on a die roll of six. In Siberia, Gen. Kidvidze launches a subversive campaign against the French Army in Vladivostok. The 1-1 attack fails to get results. First Player is Aleksei again. A4 S&T 267 | AFTER ACTION REPORT | MAR-APR 2011 Fyodor Event: French Control. The French units in Vladivostok and Murmansk come under Fyodor’s guidance. Movement Whites: In Central Asia, Gen. Kappel attaches a White Army (2) in Turkestan. Kappel’s army then moves through the vast Kazakh Steppe to Omsk and then to Novo-Nikolaevsk, where he finds a Red force. French: The French forces move from Vladivostok to Spasskoye, where Gen. Kidvidze and his Red Army are headquartered. Red: In Finland, Gen. Peterson is summoned. He moves with his Red Army to Petrograd and then on to Russian Civil War Fyodor’s second chit is the Turkey Out chit. The Turkish armies in Kars are removed. Egor Event: Epidemic in Mongolia, but only the Chinese are there and Interventionist units are unaffected. Movement Whites: Gen. Khanzin and his army remain headquartered in Tashkent. Meanwhile, Gen. Lukomsky remains in Kuban. There are no White armies available to command so he remains static, writing his memoirs. Red: Gen. Tukhachevsky and his Red Army board trains in Orel and they move to Olonetz. Here he can make an subversive attack against the French, which are controlled by Aleksei. Turn 2b Pskov where he joins other Red forces. In Grondo, Gen. Bela Kun and his army (3) board the trains and move to Kiev, and then to Kursk, Moscow, Petrograd and then to Pskov. Combat Fyodor launches a subversive attack against the Central Powers Army (3) in Latvia. This is a 5-1 attack. The Central Powers unit is eliminated. Then in Siberia, Gen. Kappel and his White Army attack General Bogomoletz, who has been isolated in Novo-Nikolaevsk due to the epidemic. The attack is 3-1 which results in an Exchange. General Bogomoletz is killed. (Dmitri) The White Army (2) is also eliminated. Now the victors send reinforcements to the east. Two Freikorps armies (4) are deployed to Courland. A Rumanian Army (2) is placed in Bessarabia. Two British armies are deployed, one in Kutais and the other in Tiflis. These are controlled by Aleksei. The three French armies (2) appear. Two are placed in Kherson, Ukraine. The other in Sevastopol. The French units are controlled by Fyodor. Combat Tukhachevsky’s Red forces conduct subversion attacks against the British units in Archangel. This is a success and the British unit is eliminated. Randomizer Egor’s White forces control Archangel (with a little help from his Red forces) Turn 2c Randomizer Fyodor controls Omsk, Kharkov, and Sevastopol with his White forces. This yields two chit pulls. The first is Armistice, Central Powers Out. First all of the Central Powers units are removed. One is the Cossack region of Kutais is removed. Another in Yekaterinoslav is pulled. In Mohilev there is a third, and the last Central Powers unit is removed from Finland. Dmitri Event: Petrograd Crisis. Georgi selects a chit. It is an uprising (2). It is placed in Omsk of all places. Movement Reds: Gen. Frunze and his Red Armies move from Kursk to Kazan to help Gen. Markin put down the peasant rebellion there. Combat The Red forces in Kazan attack the peasants. The attack is resolved at 4-1 odds. The revolt is put down, leaving the Red armies in control of Kazan. Dmitri has control of this one area. Randomizer Dmitri selects two chits. The first is France Out. The French units are controlled by Fyodor and they pack up and return home. One French army in Spasskoye is removed. Another is in Murmansk. Three more French units depart from Sevastopol. The next chit is a General Strike marker. Combat Movement Trotsky’s Red forces attack the Nationalist Army (2) in Minsk. It is a 6-1 attack and the Nationalists are easily dispatched, leaving the Red hordes in control of Minsk. Next, in Kiev, the Polish Army assaults Gen. BonchBruevich’s Red Army (3). This attack is resolved at 4-1 odds. The result is exchange. Poland loses one Nationalist Army (6) and Gen. Bonch-Bruevich is killed with his Red Army (3). Nationalists: The Nationalist Army (2) in Bukhara moves to Turkestan. Randomizer Georgi’s Red forces control, Petrograd, Moscow and Minsk. This allows two chits. The first is Military Commissariat, a replacement chit. The second chit is Freikorps control. Two powerful Freikorps armies (4) under von der Goltz in Courland are now controlled by Georgi. Boris Event: Epidemic. The effects hit Baku and a Nationalist Army (2) is destroyed along with a Red Army (3). In Archangel, a White Army (2) is also eliminated. Georgi Event: Epidemic. A White Army (2) in Vladivostok is lost to attrition along with a Siberian Nationalist Army (2). Turn 3a Movement Reds: Leon Trotsky and a powerful Red Army advance into White Russia. Departing Smolensk, they move through Mohilev uninhibited and then to Minsk. Gen. Kalinin has everything under control in Moscow and Lenin’s forces remain in headquartered in Petrograd. Whites: Gen. Markov and his White army move from Stavropol to Kirghiz. Polish: Three Polish armies move out from Warsaw into the Ukraine. They push ahead unopposed all the way to Kiev where they encounter Red armies. A6 S&T 267 | AFTER ACTION REPORT | MAR-APR 2011 Reds: Gen.Zinoviev is in Rostov. He sees no reason to move his forces. In Kaluga, Gen. Yesorov decides to relocate to Tula. This is on a rail line which may help him to pick up troops. Whites: Gen. Wrangel remains stationary in the city of Astrakhan. Combat Polish: The Polish Army (6) in Tula launches an attack against Gen. Yesorov’s Red Army (1). The attack is 6-1 and Gen. Yesorov is killed. (Boris). The Polish Nationalists control Tula. Reds: Gen. Trotsky orders a subversive attack against the Freikorps in Smolensk at 3-1. It fails. Vladimir Lenin’s Reds in Petrograd also perform subversive attacks against the Freikorps in Estonia. This attack is a 3-1 and it is successful. The Freikorps unit is sent home to Germany. Randomizer Georgi’s Red forces control Petrograd and Moscow. Georgi selects the air A7 Russian Civil War Whites: In Riga, Gen. Yzudenich assaults the Nationalist Army (2) at 3-1 odds. The Nationalist army is eliminated leaving Yudenich in control of Riga. The White forces under Gen. Krasnov join the British in an attack against Gen. Rykov and Sivers Red Army in Baku. This is also a 3-1 attack. It results in a De. Gen. Rykov and Sivers are both killed along with a Red Army (2). These units belonged to Egor. The enemy remains in Baku. An uncontrolled Red Army (3) and a Nationalist Army (2) which is also controlled by Egor. Randomizer Aleksei controls Vladivostok in Siberia and Samara in the Cossack region. This allows two selections. The Sergei V. assassin is chosen. The Volunteer Shock Army (6) is chosen. Aleksei deploys it with General Yudenich in the Baltic States. Turn 3c raid chit. This represents the British plan to bomb Moscow. Now it is safely in Georgi’s protective care so that it will never happen. An Uprising (3) breaks out in Astrakhan. Boris Event: Ivan, an assassin is selected by Boris Movement Reds: Gen. Zinoviev and his Red Armies advance to Astrakhan where they encounter a White Army and an Anarchist rebellion. Whites: Gen. Wrangel moves from Astrakhan to Rostov, seeing that the Reds have abandoned it. Combat Gen. Zinoviev’s Red armies launch an assault against the Anarchists in Astrakhan. It is a 4-1 attack. The rebel lion is squelched and the Anarchist unit is returned to the randomizer. Randomizer Boris controls Astrakhan with his Red forces and Rostov with the A8 Whites. The US Out chit is selected. The Americans go home. Two US armies in Vladivostok are removed. Another is taken from Archangel. Next, Control of the Baltic Nationalists goes to Boris so he marks these units. Fyodor Event: Epidemic in Finland. One of the Finnish Nationalist Army (6) is eliminated due to the epidemic. Aleksei Movement Event: Moscow Crisis. Georgi controls Moscow and therefore selects a chit. It is the Supreme Ruler chit, which is affects reinforcements. Whites. Gen. Kappel moves from Novo-Nikolaevsk to Omsk. There is no other movement. Movement Gen. Vatzetis and the Red Army moves from Smolensk to Mohilev. From there he will launch subversive attacks against the German Freikorps. In the Trans-Caucasus, Gen. Abramov and his White Army (2) move to Baku. Then two British armies join them. Gen. Krasnov and his White Army moves from Stavropol to Baku. The British Army (2) in Turkestan moves to the Kazakh Steppe, and then to Uralsk, and stops in Kirghiz. Combat Reds: Gen. Vatzetis launches his propaganda campaign against the Freikorps in Smolensk. This is solved at 2-1 and results in a failure. S&T 267 | AFTER ACTION REPORT | MAR-APR 2011 Combat The White forces in Omsk launch an attack against the Anarchist unit (2) in order to put down their rebellion and reassert control of the city. The odds are 6-1 and the Anarchist unit is returned to the randomizer. The Red forces in Pskov use a subversive attack against the Freikorps in Smolensk. This is resolved at 3-1 so a 50/50 chance of success. It fails. Randomizer Fyodor controls Omsk, Sevastopol, and Kharkov with his White forces. The first chit is Freikorps Out. Gen. Van der Goltz packs up his troops and returns to Germany. The second chit is Ukraine Russian Civil War Turn 4a Nationalist control. The Nationalist have an Army (4) in Kiev and a second (2) on the railroad in Kherson. Fyodor marks these under his control. Egor Event: Latvian Rifles Shock Army (4). These are deployed with Gen. Tukhachevsky in Olonetz. Movement Reds: Gen. Budyenny advances to Murmansk where he will attempt to extricate the British. Gen. Tukhachevsky advances with the Latvian Rifles to Moscow. Trotsky (controlled by Georgi) is not happy to see him there. Nationalists: In the Trans-Caucasus, three Nationalist armies (6) converge in Baku where they will attack the Red Army (3) An Anarchist (4) is deployed. Egor also selects Finland Control. Whites: In Archangel, Gen. Miller recruits a White Army (2). Note: Black Anarchist units represent various factions that do not constitute the major factions in the game. This one represents the uprising of the Kronstadt sailors. Combat Budyenny attacks the British forces at Murmansk. The attack is 6-1 and the British unit is eliminated. Then in Baku, Nationalists attack an uncontrolled Red Army (3). It is 2-1 and the result is exchange. The Red Army is eliminated and two Nationalist armies (4) are destroyed. Randomizer Egor’s White Army controls Archangel and Tashkent. The Kronstadt Rebellion breaks out in Petrograd. The first one is the Konarmyia Shock Army. It is deployed with Gen. Tukhachevsky’s Army in Ekaterinburg. The next selection is the 26 Commissars Chit. This is an assassination deterrent. Dmitri Event: European Crisis. Movement Nationalists. In Siberia, Nationalists forces move from Irkutsk and Chita to Vladivostok. The Siberian Nationalists are controlled by Dmitri and will engage the White leader in Vladivostok. Turn 4b Nationalist (2) in Livonia Combat First player is Egor In Ekaterinburg, Budyenny and Tukhachevsky join their Red forces in an attack against the Czech Legion. The ration is 6-1 so the Czech are auto eliminated. Another attack is launched in Baku. The Trans-Caucasus Region Nationalists attack the White Army there, under Gen. Krasnov and Abramov. It is a 1-2 ratio and results in an Ae. The three Nationalist armies (2) are removed to Aleksei’s VP display. Turn Four, October 1919-February 1920 Egor Event: General Strike Movement White. Gen. Lukomsky is currently in Kuban. He moves to Stavropol in order to attach a White Army (3). From there, he moves back to Kuban. Gen. Miller moves his army from Archangel to Murmansk. Turn 4c Nationalists. Egor controls three Trans-Caucasus Nationalist armies and maneuvers them to Baku, where they can attack Aleksei’s White army. The attack is low odds, but if successful it will score some Red VP’s. Reds. Gen. Tukhachevsky is in Moscow with the Latvian Rifles Shock Army. They are re-deployed to Ekaterinburg, which still has Czech forces fighting there. Then Gen. Denikin employs the Felix Dzherinisky assassin and two others to take a shot at Trotsky in Saratov. This attempt fails. Georgi collects the assassin chits. Fyodor Movement/Combat Gen. May-Maevisky moves from Sevastopol to Ryazan. There he attempts to assassinate Gen. Chatilov. Two chits are employed. Chatilov is killed. Gen. Kappel advances from Sevastopol to Ryazan and attaches the uncontrolled White forces left behind by Chatilov. Egor Movement/Combat Gen. Tukhachevsky moves from Siberia to Greater Russia and then to Samara. There he attacks Gen. Ulagi and captures him and his White forces. Then Tukhachevsky expends four assassin chits and attempts to kill Wrangel. This fails and Boris collects the chits. 4W 37R 46R Turn Nine, November 1921-March 1922 Aleksei moves Gen. Denikin’s Army to Penza. Gen. Voroshilov and the Red Army move from Minsk to Saratov. Gen. Kidvidze moves from Krasnoyarsk to Omsk. Then Denikin launches a Terror attack against Simonov’s Red forces. This is a 3-1 attack but it fails. Fyodor Event: The epidemic sweeps through Saratov. There, four Red armies are wiped out. Also in Taurida, a White Army (4) is eliminated. Lesson: Don’t keep all of the powerful armies in the same province when there could be an epidemic. Movement/Combat Gen. Kappel’s White force moves into Saratov. There he will face the Red Army weakened by the epidemic. Kappel’s men attack Lenin and Sytin. It is a 3-1 battle and this results in an exchange. Lenin an Sytin are killed. Two White Armies (4) are also eliminated. The course of history is forever changed! Gen. Voroshilov and his Red armies move from Kiev to Kovno where he attacks the Nationalist forces there. Tukhachevsky moves from Samara to Saratov. There he attempts to assassinate Gen. Kappel. This succeeds. Gen. May-Maevisky is on hand and takes command, but Tukhachevsky attempts to assassinate him as well. This fails. The result is exchange and Gen. Kutepov and Romanovsk are both killed (Fyodor). Event: Assassin Chit Wrangel attempts an assassination of Gen. Slavin in Moscow. This fails. Then he tries to get Gen. Simonov which also fails. A third attempt is made to get Kalinin. This one succeeds. Movement/Combat Fyodor Gen. Sorokin moves from Penza to Saratov where he attaches the Latvian Rifles. He attempts an assassination of Gen. May-Maevisky which falls flat. Event: Epidemic in Mongolia eliminated the Nationalist forces there. Boris Gen. May-Maevisky and the Imperial Gold move from Saratov to Petrograd, Then Gen. Voroshilov and the Red Army move from the Baltic to Poland where they attack the Polish Nationalists. This is a 2-1 attack and results in an exchange. The Polish Nationalist Army (6) is eliminated. The Red Army is also eliminated. Georgi Movement/Combat Trotsky and Slavin both move to Moscow. Gen. Sorokin goes to Penza where he finds the location of Gen. Denikin. He employs the assassination chits in an attempt to take out the White leader. This fails. Aleksei gets the chits. Boris Movement/Combat Gen. Wrangel moves his forces from Samara to Saratov where he attacks what is left of Gen. Vatzetis’s Red Army. Gen. Vatzetis is killed. In Saratov, Gen. Kornilov organizes an assassination against Gen. Tukhachevsky. This succeeds and the Red leader is killed. This leaves the Latvian Rifles and the Konarmyia without a leader. Game Turn Inter-Phase Turn 10 First Player: Egor Turn Ten, April-August 1922 Egor Event: Epidemic eliminates the Nationalist troops (6) in Finland. Movement/Combat Gen. Berzin moves by Rail from Tashkent to Saratov, where he collects the Konarmyia. Berzin attempts to assassinate Wrangel as he could lead the Whites to victory. The attempt fails. Boris gets the assassin chits. A20 Event: Epidemic in Saratov. The Latvian Rifles are decimated along with the Konarmyia. May-Maevisky’s White Army (6) is also eliminated along with Wrangel’s White Army (4). Central Committee: Boris attempts to form a Central Committee because Fyodor has a strong Red contingent but he appears to be going for a White Victory. Georgi throws in with the committee so they have a quorum with 9 Politburo chits. Since Dmitri also wants a Red victory, he agrees to throw his two Politburo votes in the mix. The purge is launched against Fyodor and it is successful. One point is conceded and Georgi takes control of Gen. Antonov and the Red Army (4) with him. Movement/Combat Movement/Combat Fyodor has his Red general in Kiev, Gen. Muraviev attempt an assassination against Gen. Antonov. This succeeds leaving Gen. Antonov is dead. Game Turn Inter-Phase Turn 11 First Player: Boris Turn Eleven, September 1922-January 1923 Summary Wrangel’s White Army attacks Gen. Sorokin’s Reds in Saratov. This is a 6-1 attack which kills the Red general. The epidemic has left this region a waste. Boris uses Wrangel to attempt an assassination of Red Gen. Berzin. The first attempt fails but a second effort is made with additional assassins. This time Berzin is hit. (Egor). Aleksei Movement/Combat Gen. Wrangel moves to Moscow to take on Trotsky. The attack is 4-1 and results in an exchange. Trotsky is killed along with Gen. Sablin. The White Army (4) is wrecked.
