This year, the group practiced once a month during the summer
and performed for the church at the July 3rd service. As of this
article, Sisters has performed at three nursing homes; Morning
Pointe in Franklin, Greenwood Meadows, and Bethany Village.
October 28 will be the last practice before the Christmas show
will be performed.
everal years ago, a group of women wanted to minister to people in nursing homes. With Evelyn Badgley as their
director, they developed a program and proceeded to perform at
area nursing homes. Since then, the group has grown to 58 performers from over 20 churches in Indianapolis.
The schedule in November includes: University Heights Health
& Living, Franklin Meadows, and Greenwood Village Pavilion.
Why use the word “performers”? Sisters in Song is not just a
simple group of singers whose harmony includes 1st and 2nd
sopranos or 1st and 2nd altos. There are several soloists as well
as instrumentalists (flute, violin, xylophone) and dancers. Besides the red shirts and black pants— some dress as clowns,
tropical dancers, a chorus line, flag bearers and even a nun!
If you are a lady with spare time on Friday mornings, and have a
gift and willingness to sing and minister to those shut-in at area
nursing homes… please contact Evelyn… she would love add
you to their group!

J
esus was the ultimate example of someone who showed others their value. That’s why it is
important for us to help our kids and families discver more about HONOR—letting someone
know you see how valuable they really are.
Our Memory Verse for November comes from Romans 12. Throughout the chapter, Paul
casts a vision for the church and how they can live as people transformed by God’s Holy Spirit.
One place you can go as a leader or parent to help kids understand the concept of honro is
the life of David. There are some powerful lessons about honor that show up all throughout
David’s story. Here is a quick overview of what we’ll be covering throughout November.
11/6 | In 1 Samuel 16:1-13 Bottom Line: Honor others by giving them a chance. Often we
have people in our lives that we tend to overlook. This story reminds us that God has a different way for us to look at the people around us. We can give people a chance because that's
what God does for us.
Preschoolers
(ages 3-5) - Sundays at 10:30 AM
ATTENTION PARENTS:
Please make sure to check out the Parent Cue
to see what your kiddos are learning about!
11/13 | We continue our look at Honor in 1 Samuel 18:1-9, 19:1-17, and 20:1-42. Bottom Line:
Honor others by putting them first. When we see people as God sees them, we start to realize
that how we treat them matters. One of the easiest ways we can show people honor is by
putting their needs before our own. This is exactly what God did for us when He sent Jesus to
be our Savior.
11/20 | In 2 Samuel 9:13, Bottom Line: Honor others by keeping your promises. Part of honoring others is keeping your word when you say you’ll do something. This not only builds trust,
but also shows people you think they’re valuable. No one feels good when people let them
down. Take time to go above and beyond to keep the promises you make to others.
11/27 | 2 Samuel 6:12-22a. Bottom Line: Honor God by giving Him credit. The secret to showing honor to others is to understand that it begins with honoring God and giving Him the credit for everything we have. We can make it a point to honor God with every aspect of our lives.

DEADLINE FOR DONATIONS
Sun., November 13th
S
HCCs Benevolence Ministry is once
again sponsoring its annual Thanksgiving basket distribution to needy families
living in the greater Southport area. Each year,
we supply dinner to more and more families,
and this year we hope to supply even more.
2015. Would you help us serve even
more this year?
In addition to financial support and
food donations, volunteers are needed
to help shop, set up and deliver baskets. If you would like to donate towards this effort, please address a
check or cash to SHCC (put
“Thanksgiving baskets” in the memo
line). If you have questions or would
like to volunteer, please contact Denny Fulkerson (317-887.2979) or
Shelia Henley at (317-893-4289 /
317-833-2765).
Each basket allows a recipient family to receive
food for approximately four to six people,
complete with all the necessary canned / packaged food, trimmings and turkey. Church
members, individuals, classes and local businesses help purchase the baskets for an approximate cost of $35-40 each.
The initial dream behind this program was to
provide dignity to poor families, allowing them
to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal at home rather
than having to shuffle through a long line at a
local soup kitchen, or do without. The motivation that our members feel when participating
in the boxing up and delivery is the fact that
they are helping their neighbors, which is evident in the thanks expressed by those who
receive the baskets.
Through the generous support of our church
members and others, we fed over 22 families in

Special Speaker: Tyson Chastain with Johnson
University.
Born and raised west of
Indianapolis, Tyson, his
wife, and their eldest son,
were immersed into Christ
in 1993. Since then, the
Lord has led the Chastain
family (Tylson, Betsy,
Drew, Skyler and Briscoe)
on a wild ride. After earning a BA degree in Bible and Missions from Johnson
Bible College (Johnson University) in 2000, Tyson’s
family spent two wonderful years in Honduras, Central America. Circumstances led the family back to
the USA in 2002, at which time Tyson began his
employment with Johnson and started to pursue an
MA in New Testament and Preaching from the University. Tyson earned his MA in 2007 and has
served a variety of interim preaching ministries in East
Tennessee. In addition to a variety of volunteer roles
with mission and community organizations, Tyson
currently serves as the Director of Church Relations at
Johnson University and chairman of the elders at Gap
Creek Christian Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. 

Faith Promise Commitment Sunday
Steve Ferguson will bring us our IMAGINE
message.
*****
What is Faith Promise?
SHCC steps out in Faith each November to
underwrite Missions separately from the general budget because it is believed to be in
keeping with the commands of the scriptures.
Your Faith Promise commitment is between
you and God. It is waiting before the Lord
for His instructions as to what He wants you
to give in reaching the world with the saving
Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is stepping out in
faith with the commitment that we trust God
to provide. We are doing this as a church,
and as individuals with the confidence that in
God’s hands, our gifts will not only be provided but will be multiplied and used in ways
we could never understand and with blessings
beyond what we might IMAGINE.
Pledge cards will be available in your bulletin
Sundays, November 6, 13 and 20. After
which, you can still pick them up in the
Church Office.
