Outfitters and Guides Memorial Scholarship In Honor of Fran Tonsmeire and Michelle Zettel This perpetual scholarship is in memory of two remarkable women who lost their battles with cancer in late 2014. Outfitters Fran Tonsmeire and Michelle Zettel were tireless advocates of the outdoors and great community supporters. They lived their lives to the fullest and their deaths have left a huge hole in the lives of the many people they touched. The Salmon Chapter of the Idaho Outfitters and Guides Association would like to give back to the communities that Fran and Michelle devoted so much time and effort to through this scholarship. General Instructions: • Applicant must reside in Lemhi or Custer County and be a senior in good standing at Salmon High School, Salmon Alternative School, Leadore High School, Challis High School or an accredited Home School program. • GPA 2.50 or greater. Please provide official unopened transcript. • Applicant must be accepted (or enrolled) in a college, university or technical/vocational‐
tech school in any state. Graduating seniors please provide copy of letter of acceptance. • List expected costs for the coming school year. • Submit two letters of recommendation: o Letters should not be from relatives, and o Letters should be from a faculty member and/or community members who are familiar with the applicant's volunteer or community service. • Essay: minimum 1 page, typed, double spaced. Essay should discuss: o What are your favorite things to do outdoors? Why? o How have your outdoor experiences prepared you for your future? o What volunteer or community service experience do you have? What did you learn from it? o Evaluate your potential to complete your post high school education. • This scholarship must be used within the upcoming year or it will be forfeited back to the IOGA Scholarship Fund. The check will be made payable to the specific college, university or technical/vocational‐tech school upon confirmed registration.
