FAQs
Is Upper Iowa University’s Nursing Program Accredited?
The RN-BSN program at Upper Iowa University is accredited by
the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and
has full board of nursing approval. The Higher Learning
Commission of the North Central Association accredits Upper
Iowa University.
Where does the program take place?
The MaricopaNursing/Upper Iowa University AssociateBaccalaureate CEP is offered with all MaricopaNursing
campuses. The hybrid track UIU classes are scheduled at the
UIU Mesa Center, convenient for those living or attending
classes within commuting distance. A completely online track is
available and works well for students outside a commuting
distance. The UIU online format is 100% online.
What are the differences between HYBRID and ONLINE
courses?
HYBRID courses blend the consistency of the traditional
classroom with the flexibility of the online environment. Students
and instructors meet for a traditional three hour "class" four
times during the term. The rest of the time, class is conducted in
an online format. It is the best of both worlds!
How do I apply?
Contact the UIU Academic Advisor, Patricia Klein, by phone at
480-461-6791 or by email at [email protected].
If I am receiving financial aid, how will it be disbursed
between the two schools?
Because federal regulations require that financial aid can only be
disbursed through one college at a time, you will need to apply
for financial aid through Upper Iowa University and complete and
sign a consortium agreement for financial aid disbursement.
Although the financial aid between the two programs is designed
to work seamlessly, this cannot be guaranteed, so there may be
times when you will be asked to pay your MaricopaNursing
program tuition before you receive your Upper Iowa University
financial aid check. You will need to be prepared to pay your
MaricopaNursing program tuition out of pocket or by payment
plan until the balance of your financial aid is awarded by Upper
Iowa University.
Course of Study
The plans of study for Fall, Spring, and Summer entry

student, you must be enrolled in a UIU course every
semester as noted.
* UIU terms are 8 weeks long.
** Or hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally
accredited school.
*** Must hold RN license to be eligible to participate in
these courses.
