Three reasons to visit Finger Lakes in upstate New York.
Sometimes the most interesting destinations for a wedding, honeymoon or vacation are not always the most
obvious, or even the most exotic-sounding. Recently I came across some information about New York’s Finger
Lakes. The Finger Lakes are a pattern of odd-looking lakes in the west-central section of Upstate New York,
and are a popular tourist destination. True to the region’s name, they run from north to south, are skinny and
actually look like fingers from an aerial view. Here are three reasons to visit the Finger Lakes in New York:

Wine, beautiful country and more wine – Finger Lakes Wine Country is a beautiful and natural
location which offers every kind of backdrop you could imagine - rolling hills, vineyards, waterfalls, gorges,
small town churches and even your fairytale castles dot the lush countryside. The region also boasts several
facilities that can host parties, wedding rehearsal dinners and there plenty of rooms for your family and
guests to stay. Every July, there’s the famous Finger Lakes Wine Festival as well. What goes better with some
beautiful scenery than wine?
Lots to do, many things to see – If wine is not your thing, there are plenty of art museums, historic
sites, walking trails, wineries, breweries, distilleries, restaurants and much more in the surrounding areas of
Elmira, Corning and Watkins Glen. There’s lots to do, so if you are having a wedding in the area, your guests
won't be bored if there's any down time!
Winter, spring, summer or fall, the Finger Lakes have it all – No need to worry about what season
it is, the Finger Lakes region is a great area to visit no matter what time of year it is. The Holiday Inn of
Elmira-Riverview and Holiday Inn Express in Horseheads are two nice and affordable places to stay.
