58th Presidential Inauguration
58th Presidential Inauguration
WASHINGTON D.C. - On January 20th, Donald Trump and Michael Pence were sworn in as President and Vice
President of the United States at the 58th Presidential Inauguration. CSC Washington D.C. was once again honored
to provide services for the Presidential Inauguration, held in front of the U.S. Capitol building in Washington D.C. While
hundreds of thousands of people lined the National Mall to witness Trump take the oath of office, CSC secured all the
delay towers and video boards during the Swearing-In Ceremony along the National Mall, which stretches nearly two
miles between the Lincoln Memorial and the Capitol Building, as well as secured a massive Press Filing Center located
on 12th Street.
Following the ceremony, CSC provided services along the Inaugural Parade route, which extended down 15 blocks
of Pennsylvania Avenue between the Capitol and the White House. CSC Philadelphia assisted the D.C. branch with
the Inaugural Parade for the 3rd consecutive Presidential Inauguration. CSC’s coverage of the parade route included
ushering for all of the ticketed bleaches and coverage of all the press risers along the route. CSC also provided services
for the Inaugural Welcome Concert, held at the Lincoln Memorial, including load in and load out security at the Lincoln
Memorial and National Mall. CSC’s services for The Presidential Inauguration Committee were provided under the
direction of Reggie Ash and Max Miller from the 58th Presidential Inaugural Committee.
Additionally, CSC staffed 45 personnel to provide ticket scanning at all mag points outside of the Washington Convention
Center for the Freedom Ball and Liberty Ball, as well as staff for the VIP areas at The Great American Inaugural Ball at
the brand new MGM National Harbor Resort & Casino under the direction of Patrick Barton, Partner, Great American Ball.
“We would like to thank all of the CSC employees from both the Philadelphia and D.C. branches for once
again making the Inauguration a huge success. It is because of all of you that the Inaugural Committee has
continued to choose CSC to be their event staff provider.”

103rd Rose Bowl Game
CSC Managers on the trophy stage after the game
LOS ANGELES, CA - The 103rd Rose Bowl Game was an event for the ages. On January 2nd, the USC Trojans pulled
off an exciting win with a last-second field goal to beat the Penn State Nittany Lions, 52-49. The two teams played in their
first-ever bowl games against each other in 1923 at the first Rose Bowl Game held at the iconic Pasadena stadium. More
recently, the two teams faced off again in the 2009 Rose Bowl Game, which USC won 38-24, making this year’s game an
exciting rematch. CSC Los Angeles provided services for the annual bowl game, dubbed the “The Granddaddy of Them
All,” with the support of CSC Orange County, San Diego, San Bernardino, Fresno, Northern California, Oklahoma City,
Des Moines and Buffalo.
Under the direction of Tournament of Roses Chief Administrative Officer - Rose Bowl Game, Kevin Ash and Rose Bowl
Game Director, John Henderson, CSC deployed over 1,850 personnel inside and outside of the Rose Bowl, with over 400
personnel staffing the gates alone due to the implementation of walk through metal detector (WTMD) screening. With 115
WTMD units utilized, CSC Manager Luis Uribe conducted five supplemental Guest Screening trainings prior to the big
game in anticipation of the increased staffing levels. In addition to entry screening, CSC scanned tickets, staffed over 200
personnel in the Pavilion, over 200 personnel at neighborhood barricades, provided field and locker room security and
ushered over 80,000 guests to their seats. CSC Los Angeles Managers Robert Young, AJ Erb and Jay Noell successfully
led the staff through pre-coverage, “The Granddaddy of Them All” and the trophy presentation.
CSC would like to give a special thanks to Adam May, CSC WTMD Manager. Adam would like to recognize the WTMD
Tech’s Dane Izumoto, Zack Papalii, Nick Watanabe, Brian Humphreys, Cary Oba, Ryan Wakamoto, Jorge Quinto, Oscar
Velasquez, Ruben Herrera, Dane Sukimoto, Devon Dodds, Andrew Velazquez and Carlos Rodriguez for their successful
efforts in setting up, calibrating, maintaining and breaking down the largest WTMD deployment in CSC Los Angeles
history. This included the deployment of 32 WTMDs for the Fan Fest, led by CSC Sr. WTMD Technician Anthony Coimber,
which were then transitioned into a concourse perimeter once the gates opened. It took over 3 days to set up, calibrate
and power all of the WTMDs for the game. After the 1st quarter of the game, CSC WTMD Technicians had to breakdown
and transport all units out of the path of egress. This was a huge task due to time constraints, and was a success due to
the dedication and hard work of the LA WTMD Techs.

beyond that. APEX worked with Metro DC Police during the event to handle a number of security incidents, as well as

2nd. APEX personnel worked alongside CSC and the Pasadena Police Department. Starting on January 1st, APEX

from all 22 MLS teams were in attendance, including CSC’s six MLS

topics ranging from policy updates, to weather safety and Club expectations, both on the national and international stage.
Jeff Stonebreaker from the MLS Security Department led a security panel that was extremely useful to attendees. The
panel introduced steps for crisis communication and gave clubs the opportunity to explain their own experience on how
to effectively handle a crisis during an MLS game. The seminar also included networking time that included a tour of
CenturyLink Field, home to the Seattle Sounders, along with a mini-golf outing at Flatstick Pub.
While in Seattle, CSC hosted a dinner for its MLS clients including representatives from the much-anticipated Los Angeles
FC, Columbus Crew SC, D.C. United, LA Galaxy, Philadelphia Union, Real Salt Lake and San Jose Earthquakes. This
dinner provided CSC management with the opportunity to further cultivate relationships with both the teams, as well as
other members of CSC management to ensure a successful 2017 season.

UCLA Men’s Basketball
LOS ANGELES, CA - The 2016-17 UCLA Men’s Basketball
team is off and running with one of its best starts in recent
history. The team, guided by freshmen standouts Lonzo Ball
and T.J. Leaf, quickly jumped to #2 in the country with wins
over No. 1 - ranked Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio State.
The team is currently 19-2, and ranked No. 8 in the NCAA.
This season marked the start of some policy changes off
the court in the iconic Pauley Pavilion. UCLA’s Pauley
Pavilion and Associate Athletic Director, Mike Dowling,
implemented the use of walk through metal detectors
(WTMDs) and a clear bag policy to all guests and workers
entering the venue. CSC Los Angeles, under the leadership
of Event Managers Jay Noell and Jose Herrera, helped
Pauley Pavilion
UCLA implement these new policies. In order to ensure the
success of the new policies, CSC increased its staffing levels from 66 to its current number of 140 staff per game. The
added security measures, combined with nearly sold out games, has forced both staff and fans to adapt very quickly.
Similar to UCLA’s success on the court, CSC has also hit its stride with screening approximately 13,000 guests in a span
of 1 hour using 21 WTMDs and wands. Robert Young, CSC Los Angeles Director of Administrative Operations stated,
“Our goal has been to make sure that all guests are properly screened and in their seats prior to tip-off.” Robert has been
very pleased with the efforts and customer service skills of CSC’s Event Managers and staff to achieve their goals.

LA Rams “Ask Me Ambassadors”
LOS ANGELES, CA - CSC Los Angeles closed out the football
season at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for the final LA
Ram’s game of the 2016 NFL season on January 1st, 2017.
Under the direction of Kevin Daly, Director of Events at the
Coliseum, CSC LA provided services for all 9 Rams home
games this season. With over 1,100 employees working every
game, CSC provided the security, ticket taking and ushering for
each game throughout season.
This was the Rams first season playing at the Coliseum since
moving back to LA. As a desire to further enhance the fan
experience, the Rams approached CSC in early November
regarding the ability to start an “Ask Me Ambassador” program.
This program would add 25 positions inside all of the gates.
These staff members would be given all game day information including concession locations, restroom locations, parking
maps and any specific game day needs in order to further assist guests. CSC LA was able to organize a group of staff for
these positions and have them trained and ready to go in 2 weeks for the next home game. The success of the program
was immediate, and for the last 3 home games of the year, the number of “Ask Me Ambassadors” increased to 32. CSC
LA is proud to have had a very successful 1st season with the Rams back in town and looks forward to improving upon
its success to make the 2017 season an even better one.
“It had been 22 years since the NFL played a game in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Since that time,
the professional event landscape has changed tremendously. CSC was able to take on the challenge and
remove the uncertainty of hosting a modern NFL event. Their knowledge of best practices for security and
response to new initiatives made this year a huge success.”
