CENTRE CLOSED FOR LOUIS RIEL DAY
Infant Room: Heather Deamel (ECE III),
Natasha Grenier (CCA) & Tamara Brazhko
(CCA)
Happy New Year!
With the New Year came some changes
within our room. A huge welcome goes out to
Tamara who joined the infant room team.
Also a huge welcome to the new families who
have joined our centre.
We continue to try to go outside as much as
the weather allows. On days where the
weather is too harsh for us to explore
outdoors we enjoy art activities such as
painting, coloring, or our favorite activity….
Bubbles!
We have a picture board in our room that the
children enjoy looking at. We would love to
include your family picture as well! If you
bring it in we will hang it in our frame so the
children can look at it throughout the day.
Stay Warm!

After a busy and crafty Christmas season,
our 2 & 3 year olds are still very involved in
being fire fighters! The community helpers

role playing has expanded from fire fighters
into police officers. This generated into a
visit to our local RCMP station. We will be
arranging a time for an ambulance to stop at
the centre in the next few weeks as well. We
have managed quite well through the cold
snap but we are looking forward to the
weather warming up so we can head back
outside.
With that being said please remember to
send appropriate outdoor clothing for your
child (ren). Please remember to send an
extra pair of clothes as well incase we get
wet or dirty.
Our room has been busy exploring lots of
different sensory activities such as shaving
cream play, playing in flour, bringing snow
inside to play with and water play. We look
forward to the next couple of weeks.
Stay warm and have a good winter!

helpful for the kids and staff if the clothing
you send is labelled.
To break up the long winter blues we will be
planning a spirit week for February 9 - 13.
We will post more information about this
week.
We would like to welcome a new staff onto
our team. Fraser started working at our
centre at the beginning of the year.
We ask that all families send a water bottle
with your child. You can either send it daily
or it can stay in their lockers and we can fill
it up at the centre. Please make sure your
child’s name is somewhere on the water
bottle.
If you have any questions or concerns don’t
hesitate to ask!

Nursery School: Michelle Sanders
(ECE II), Kathy Worms (CCA in training)
Nursery School is back in full swing after a
great Christmas break! We’ve started off
learning about penguins and how much fun
they have in the snow. We even brought
some snow inside since it is too cold to go
outside and play in the snow. Next we will
find out how penguins and polar bears stay
warm in such cold weather. As an added
treat we will make homemade ice cream!
Stay Warm Everyone!

We had a great end to 2014 and lots of fun
was had over the Christmas Break! With
2015 starting, it has brought us lots of snow
and cold weather, therefore we have not
been able to go outside very much as of yet.
Once it warms up a little we plan on spending
more time in our backyard.
2015 also brought us a new staff in our
room. We would like to welcome Fraser
Redlick to our team.
In the mornings before school the children
have been watching and participating in our
kids yoga movie. It is a great way to get
stretched out, relaxed and energized for
their busy days at school. The kids have
been very interested in making forts/tents,
playing games, making fantastic creations out
of lego and so much more.
Just a reminder that we have a couple no
school days coming up (Jan. 30 & Feb. 2),
please make sure to let the staff know, if
your child will be attending for full days on
these dates.
Stay Warm!

do go outside in the morning and afternoon
and warm winter clothing, boots, hats and
mitts are essential. When the wind-chill is
-25 degrees Celsius or colder, we keep
children inside.
This decision is reviewed
frequently during the day.
Neck warmers are preferred over scarfs
since scarfs are a choking hazard during
playing outside and on the play structure!
Please label all winter clothing such as
jackets, snow pants, hats, mitts, and boots.
That way it will be so much easier to find
your child’s belongings in case they are
misplaced or missing. Thank you for making
everyone’s live easier that way!
Please turn your vehicle off to prevent the
fumes from coming into your child’s play
space.
