How to Make It
Prep Work:
• Cut out the center of each paper plate.
• Cut a small hole into the bottom of the cup.
• Make two copies of the groundhog template onto cardstock and cut them out for each crafter.
• Copy the groundhog song onto cardstock and cut it out for each crafter.
NOTE: To make gluing easier, try pouring small amounts of glue into collage bowls or paper bowls.
Then provide crafters with paintbrushes for spreading the glue onto their crafts.
1
Provide each crafter with two groundhog templates,
the groundhog song, a paper cup, a prepped
plate, and a dowel.
2
Invite crafters to use the markers or crayons to
color in the groundhog. Assist them with gluing the
groundhog templates back-to-back to the wooden
dowel. Have them set the body aside and allow to
dry.
3
Direct crafters to glue the plate to the top of the cup
and the groundhog song on the side of the cup.
Then invite crafters to use the tissue paper squares
and other arts and craft materials to decorate the
cup and plate.
4
Lastly, instruct crafters to place the groundhog into
the cup and have them push the dowel through
the hole at the bottom of the cup. Now, their
groundhog is ready to make an appearance!

I See a Little Groundhog
Sing to the tune of “ I’m a Little Teapot”
I see a little groundhog, furry and brown,
He’s popping up to look around.
If he sees his shadow, down he’ll go.
Six more weeks of winter—oh, no!
