His presentation will outline ways in which adults can gather to support and bolster youth as they progress through their formative years. Tempe Diablo Scholarship Deadline Extended: Wednesday, February 1, 2017 I'd also like to remind you of the Tempe Diablo Scholarships that are available for students. Each scholarship is for $2,000 the first year and renewable for three years at $2,000 per year if all criteria are met and funding remains available. Members of the Tempe Diablos, their spouses, children, grandchildren and/or dependents are not eligible to apply. To be eligible for a Diablo scholarship, an applicant must: Currently be a senior in high school and plan to graduate from a publicly funded, accredited high school. Be a resident of Tempe, Arizona. Must be classified as an Arizona resident for tuition purposes. Meet one of the following: o Have a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average. o Be ranked in the top 25% of their graduating class. o Have an SAT reasoning of 1040 or higher. o Have an ACT score of 22 or higher. Show extracurricular involvement in their school and/or community; strong leadership abilities and communication skills. Demonstrate the potential to continue with their college career by remaining in good standing with the college or university and maintain all scholarship criteria. Congratulations to Riley Barry for receiving a First place overall in the Tempe Festival of the Arts student show and competition (killer cash award). Selina Scott received a Second place in the grades 10 – 12 section as well. They were the only McClintock 2-D students to enter. Congratulations to a number of Mrs. Smith’s photo students for participating as well. January 21 from 10am – 12pm will be the reception for the “New Horizons” art show at the Shemer Art Center. Riley Barry (painting) and Janee Rector (photography) were chosen to represent McClintock. The Sister Cities Art Competition has been held, with a few McClintock students winning awards. Kerrigan Cody received a 2nd place, Cassidy Allen received special recognition, and Grace Wochner got an honorable mention in the art category. There will be a reception and awards ceremony on February 8, from 7 – 8:30pm at the Hackett House in downtown Tempe. In addition, the Art 7 show will be up from February 20th – April 25th, with a reception on March 1st from 4 – 6pm. The show and reception are being held on the second floor of the Tempe Public Library. In case you are unaware, this is the district art show that has been held annually over 40 years. The name has changed with the addition of schools in the district. From the Athletics Office Spring Sports are right around the corner, register at registermyathlete.com. Transferring sports, please visit the Athletic Office. All athletes must be registered by Tuesday, January 31st to be cleared for tryouts which start on Monday, February 6th. Students must wear their ID’s at all times while on campus. GO CHARGERS! From the Academics Office Attention all seniors planning to attend college in the fall. MHS is partnering with Mesa Community College to host a Financial Aid Workshop this Tuesday, January 31, at 6:00 pm in the McClintock Library. If you are planning to attend a university, community college, or technical school in the fall and have not already completed your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Aid), this workshop is for you and your parents. What to bring: Social Security Number Alien Registration Number (if not a U.S. citizen) 2015 federal income tax returns W-2’s and other records of money earned 2015 records of untaxed income (if applicable) Current bank statements and records of investments (if applicable) Representatives from the following colleges and universities will be on campus on the following dates.
