If it’s just you and your loved one, how about a visit to the famous Blue Lotus Farm? No matter how old or young you are, it’s mesmerising
actually seeing the giant lotus leaves in all their glory as they float delicately on a lake. The Blue Lotus Farm opens the doors on its new season on the
27th of December, so if the weather does become a little warmer, strolling around a farm that is based on lakes, will certainly be nicer than sitting baking
on the sand at the beach.
Wouldn’t a stroll through some of our glorious eucalypt forests would be a perfectly pleasant way to spend the day? Extremely close by
Foothills Accommodation Yarra Valley is the Olinda Creek Walking Track. Beginning at Silvan, the track isn’t amazingly easy, but is not massively
challenging either. It’s a lovely amble through lush fern gullies and cool tall trees, then winds
slowly up to finish at Mt. Evelyn. My favourite thing to do is sit and enjoy a treat from any of
the different eateries along the Mt. Evelyn shopping precinct, have a bit of a potter around
the old train station, then take a leisurely wander back down to Silvan. Ahhhh, all too nice a
day, you won’t even realise you’re exercising – but if it is hot avoid dehydration by taking
some water with you, and be alert for seasonal warnings.
One of Foothills Accommodation Yarra Valley favourites is Lilydale Lake – we still
can’t believe how close this is to our centre! It’s a whole family experience; sort of like a ‘one
stop water playground’ for visitors of all ages. You can swim, paddle, fish, canoe, ride your
bike, sit in the shade on the grass whilst the littlies enjoy the massive covered playground,
run, play with your dog, engage with local history, have a barbie, watch the men racing their
model yachts, and so on….you will be super amazed at everything you can do at Lilydale
Lake!
So, if you’ve got bored kids at home and the long, school holidays are starting to drag, let us suggest you come up during the week
(when our accommodation has a special 15% discount), visit either the Blue Lotus Farm, go for some pizza take away from either Mt
Evelyn or Mooroolbark eateries, followed by some evening splashing at Seville Splash Park. Perfect water play and stay to give both you,
and the kids, a break away.
Or maybe you’ve finally found a little bit of spare time to indulge yourself and a loved one with an overnight stay in one of Foothills

either Yarra Glen and Healesville.
