A Simple Man
If the closing year was like “Mr. Toad’s
Wild Ride” through hell, well I have a
comforting story to tell you.
Long before we had the airplane, the
automobile for travel, the telephone, TV and
web for fast communication, there was an
ordinary man like you and me who went
beyond the ordinary and did seemingly
ordinary things that changed not only himself
but the entire civilization.
He was born within the boundaries of his
own psyche, his family, his religion and
environment. He was a man of truth and
righteousness and he abided and obeyed what
he knew to be true. With truth as his guiding
star he broke down the barriers and walls that
made up his small world. The impossible
became possible, the extraordinary become
ordinary. Happenings that were miracles to
others were just life to him.
He toppled governments without a weapon;
his message went throughout the world without
a telephone, TV or the web. His message was so
simple all who wished could understand and
also they, too, could go beyond set boundaries
of a set world into the seemingly unobtainable
place of peace, joy and harmony, called heaven.
His message was simple, “Humble yourself,
decrease and let the Holy Spirit increase until
you are down to ground zero, and He will lift
you up anew.”
His name is not Buddha, Mohammed, or
Confucius. His name was, is and always will be
Jesus Christ, the son of Joseph and Mary who
became the Son of God. He left a blazing trail
for all to follow.
Let us pray that we are all willing to pay the
price for freedom and truth as was our lowly
friend, Jesus, who is not ashamed to call us His
brothers and sisters; who is always with us as
we, too, break down fearful boundaries of the
mind that keep us limited to that which is only
possible; who is here to guide us out of hell into
the place of peace and harmony with all
mankind, called heaven.

Dear Friends,
“All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient; all things are lawful but I
will not be brought under the power of any.” 1 Corinthians 6:12
“All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient, all things are lawful, but all
things do not edify.” 1 Corinthians 10:23
At the end of the last millennium there were so many laws the prisons were as full as ours
are today. The badge happy, power hungry preying on the weak was the same as it is today.
Along comes Christ and He began to break every law His short life was capable of. Of
course the power hungry, arrogant law enforcers tried to kill Him for doing so but His stand
brought about the beginning of putting the responsibility of our lives right on our own heads.
All things are lawful. However all things are not expedient. Wow, you mean I have to judge
for myself and take responsibility for my own well being?
Just what if cocaine is lawful. Now if you want to kill yourself, be my guest. Oddly enough
people were not as stupid as they are today and they soon found out what did not edify. Or
perhaps we would get back in our society common sense if we began to have to find out what
is expedient and what is not.
When liquor was unlawful there were more gangsters and corruption than anytime in our
history. I had a friend who killed himself because he was caught between the Chicago Mafia
and the Feds while using his silo as a still.
I saw one episode of “Harry’s Law” with Kathy Bates and she is in the courtroom arguing
her case using common sense instead of the law and, lo and behold, the judge was baffled
but the jury got it. Daaaa…
With common sense and our taking on responsibility for our own laws, we will see
communities come back into our nation gone astray. We will see fear leave the people preyed
upon and the humbling of the senseless power hungry law enforcers. Giving instead of
taking will be the norm. And the abundant life will be for all as we finally have God, the
Father of us all, in charge, giving all a conscience to guide us.
No more laws, no more police, no more lawyers, and oh poor us, no more judges or bullies.
Boo hoo.
