I can’t believe that we have past the halfway point of the term already as it only seemed like yesterday I was writing the first newsletter for the school year. The next two weeks are going to be very busy indeed as there is definitely a lot happening at Sacred Heart. To celebrate ‘Catholic Schools Week’, we are having our 1st House/Grandparents Day on Thursday 10th March . There will be a lot of activities happening and it will be interesting to see if the Cox house can get their revenge on Namoi in a series of scientific challenges. I gave the students a preview on what some of the activities will be like and they are very excited indeed. Also on Wednesday 9th March , I will be going to Armidale along with our school leaders Bailey and Fergus to represent our school at the Dioceses celebration of Catholic School Week commencing with Eucharist at the cathedral and then followed by the Spirit of Catholic Education Awards. Also our Schoolbag App is available for parents who have an android phone. The app for itunes will be available in the upcoming week. As soon as both apps are available I will send home a note outlining how our Schoolbag App works. I am looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday. Dallas Hyatt live as that word commanded. Do you remember the story about Noah and his ark? In that story the rain fell for 40 days and nights. Maybe that the author meant that God kept Noah and his family away from their ‘Promised Land’ until they were ready to live by God’s word and live by it. Jesus spent 40 days and nights in the desert before he began his preaching. Maybe God was giving him the chance to become strong before his work began. Has God been making us stronger during Lent? Our forty days are not over yet, so it is not too late to make a fresh start. Happy Birthday to Claire Watt and Himaja Yerrapureddy who celebrate their birthday next week. We hope you both have a great day! SCHOOL ASSEMBLY Don’t forget our School Assemblies will be held every Friday afternoon at 2:30pm commencing next week. Everyone welcome to come along and listen to what has been happening and what will be happening at Sacred Heart and to congratulate Award Winners for their efforts in class. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS Has Lent seemed too long? We just have passed CONGRATULATIONS TO THE FOLLOWING halfway through the 40 days of Lent, and that is AWARD WINNERS WEEK 5 & 6 good news? This means we are halfway to Easter. Students Of The Week We count the 40 days from the First Sunday of for Attitude, Values and Study Habits Lent through to Holy Thursday. AQUA Hunter Rigelsford & Tori Whelan The number ‘40’ appears in the Bible many times. ORANGE The most important ‘40’ is the 40 years that the Andrew Valks & Sienna Woods Hebrew people lived in the desert after their lives in PRINCIPAL’S AWARD slavery in Egypt and before they moved to the Promised Land. That certainly was a long time, but Molly Rees when they thought about it later, they decided that f or doing a fantastic job helping the God had kept them in the desert for as long as it transition students. took to make them ready to hear God’s word and to PARISH NEWS STREET STALL The Sacred Heart Parish will be having their annual street stall on the 23rd March. IF YOU ARE ABLE TO SELL TICKETS DOWN THE STREET ANYTIME, PLEASE CONTACT ROBYN AT THE OFFICE NOW TO COLLECT TICKETS / POSTER / DREAMPOT. Easy Peasy! Ms Traynor sat down the street from 8:30am 12pm on Saturday and sold $107 worth of tickets! It would be appreciated if every family could contribute in some way so that it is not just left to the same people all the time. I appreciate that people are busy but as the saying goes ‘many hands, make light work’. We don’t have the RSL Meat Raffles to rely on this year and we still need to pay our set bills. We still need helpers to sell raffle tickets down the street. A couple of hours in the morning is all that is asked. If you are able to help let Robyn know at the office.
