Since 2012, San Antonio Sports has lead the effort to create school parks
by turning elementary and middle school property into facilities to be
enjoyed by students during the school day and open to the community
for exercise and recreation after school hours. Every school park is
unique and may include walking trails, exercise stations and other
enhancements.
School park partners include area school districts, San Antonio City
Council, San Antonio Parks & Recreation and the UTSA Department of
Architecture.

The renovations to the Alamodome’s north entrance provided an
opportunity to create an important point of recognition for the men and
women who are members of the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame, which
thanks to the City of San Antonio’s support, is also a fundraiser for San
Antonio Sports youth programs.
The newly installed San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame Plaza features
granite pavers engraved with the names of the Hall’s members, grouped
by class. Their family, friends and fans can join them with their own
personalized brick surrounding the pavers.
“To be able to be this creative, to have this vision to bring the Hall of
Fame down to the outside from inside, for everyone to see when they
first come in, is great,” said George Gervin, Spurs legend and San Antonio
Sports Hall of Fame Class of 1995 member.

The annual San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame Tribute presented
by AT&T is always an evening of fun and inspiration, but 2016 was the
best gala ever. Class of 2016 member, Shaquille O’Neal, was the life of
the party, and all the inductees personified our “power of sport” theme.
The largest annual fundraiser for San Antonio Sports youth programs,
the event offers unparalleled silent and live auctions and exciting
entertainment.
