JOSH ESKRIDGE & RICK SPRINKLE ARE WINNERS OF “212, THE EXTRA DEGREE”
On March 18, Don and Joyce Wilson of
Titusville, Florida, were traveling north and
discovered that the air conditioning in their
new Tahoe wasn’t working. Their navigation
system directed them to Flow Chevrolet
Service and here’s what they had to say:
“We drove in unannounced and Service
Advisor, Josh Eskridge, took our Tahoe to
the shop and said he would try to get us
some priority even though there were four
jobs ahead of us. While waiting, Service
Advisor, Rick Sprinkle, went out of his
way to make us comfortable offering to
take us to the mall or to any restaurant for
lunch. Our comfort was their priority!
Josh came back numerous times with
updates and at 4:30pm brought our repaired
and freshly washed vehicle back to us. He
then gave me a part number for a bracket,
telling me that lack of the bracket possibly
caused the line to vibrate and wear the
seals out. There was a recall on this defect.
When I returned to our dealer in Florida, I
had them order the bracket.
We continued on our journey at 5:00pm
and arrived at our Virginia destination
several hours later. Here is why this trip
was important: My wife’s mother was
turning 90 years old and we were
celebrating this milestone with family.
L to R:
Rick Sprinkle and
Josh Eskridge
Congratulations
Guys!!
There are simply not enough superlatives to describe
the service we received, especially from Josh. He
gave us regular updates and Rick could not do enough
to help us as well.
We have never seen service like this!
It is
unparalleled! I don’t know how to describe our
experience...southern hospitality, personal integrity on
your staff’s part, or a very good training program
provided from Flow – perhaps some of each. You can
be assured that I will spread the word about how great
your people are and your superior service. GM
Headquarters will hear about this and I plan to write a
letter to your newspaper editor because your citizens
need to hear about this!
The “212 Extra
Degree”
recognition is
given to those
employees who
have given that
extra degree of
effort and are
exceptionally
recognized by a
customer.
Please convey our deepest gratitude to Josh and Rick. They need to be
recognized, for they surely deserve it. Lastly, I hope you will share this
missive with your senior level managers because they need to know as well!”
With our warmest regards and deepest appreciation,
Don and Joyce Wilson

FROM FLOW GM AUTO CENTER WINSTON–SALEM
Fundraiser
Richard Wells (Sales, FGMAC) returned to work one Saturday in April with devastating news after a trip to PA.
He had traveled with his two-year-old daughter, Autumn, and their family for an oncologist visit. Autumn had
been diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma (cancer in both eyes) at just three-months-old, so doctor visits had
become somewhat routine for them as they monitored her condition and tried to contain it, but cancer is neither
routine nor sympathetic. This particular visit yielded news Richard and his wife had hoped would never come-their baby girl would be losing her left eye.
Of course we couldn't sit around and do nothing. After coordinating
a ribeye steak benefit lunch set for May 4, we sent out the word
across all the Flow stores and we hit the pavement here at home. I
do believe there were people at every single Flow store who
responded! We work with the most amazing people in the world-you guys opened up your hearts and your wallets and helped the
Wells family more than we could have ever imagined. Every
department at FGMAC participated, as well as our neighbors at the
CRC, Management Services, Accounting, Marketing and the Body
Shop. Honda WS, BMW and Mini WS all had lunches delivered to
their stores. There were also very generous donations from our
more distant stores who weren't able to eat with us. Some even
orchestrated their own events, including the group in Fayetteville
who hosted a benefit cookout, and Anita Barber (Marketing) who
donated proceeds from a Zumba event. Many of you also visited
and donated on the gofundme page.
Autumn had her surgery on May 9 and thankfully, there were no
complications and no cancer was found in the surrounding tissue.
Her most recent visit on July 11 was her quickest ever and all is well
at this time. She has been measured for her prosthetic eye and will
have several fittings before it is finally painted to match her other
eye.
Thank you to all who participated (or just said a prayer) from your family here at FGMAC and especially from
Richard and his family--you have touched our hearts in a major way. We love you Richard!

CARE BEAR PROJECT
On June 11, Flow GM Auto Center hosted the Care Bear Ride! This was an event designed to raise awareness of
what our emergency responders, particularly our Forsyth County Sheriff's Department, do for children and adults
who have been involved in a traumatic event. Local law enforcement gives away stuffed animals so that a little
child can have something to bring him or her comfort in the midst of a difficult situation.
Goldwing Chapter B2, a motorcycle club to which our very own Darrin Gentz (Lead Technician) belongs,
sponsored the event consisting of a 45-minute motorcycle ride (escorted by the Forsyth County Sheriff's
Department), games, food and fellowship. The showrooms were filled with riders and supporters alike and
boxes and boxes of stuffed animals! The event was a huge success-thanks to all who donated!

FLOW CUSTOMER RELATIONS CENTER
Color Run
On March 19 in downtown Winston Salem, Shandra Caputo, Team Leader in the Flow Service Customer Relations
Center (CRC), Tommi Buchanan, Kasi Weaver and Katelyn Thomason, all Service Reservationist in the CRC,
participated in the Winston-Salem “Color Run.” This is a for-profit event which partners with charities to highlight
their causes. The Color Run has donated more than $3 million to charities since their founding in 2012. Our Flow
Team ran a 5k event, promoting healthiness, happiness, individuality and giving back to the community!
When we heard about this event, we decided to get a group together to represent Flow and show how proud we are
to be employed with such a wonderful and generous company that gives back to the community on a daily basis!
We are so thankful to have organized this with Lou Ann Pacula’s help! She obtained T-Shirts for us that would
show all the colors used during the race. Throughout the run, there are stations set up every kilometer where
participants are doused from head to toe with different colors. The powder they use is non-toxic and consists of
cornstarch, baking soda and dyes. We wanted white T-shirts so we could see just how colorful we could get! It was
cold and rainy that day but we had a blast! We are also planning on scheduling a Mud Run and other events in the
future so we can wear our Team Flow T-shirts!

TODD HARKINS HONORED BY ROTARY CLUB
In June 2016, Todd Harkins, General

Todd says, “All the hard work by the

Football Fundraiser
Saturday night, July 23, Flow Toyota hosted the Second Annual Kevin Campbell Memorial Football Fundraiser at
Rock Barn Golf and Spa. It was a bigger success than last year, because we helped sell 300 tickets and raised over
$20,000 to be put toward new end zone film equipment and upgrades to the weight room for the Conover High
School Football Program. Like last year it was a good ole fashioned pig picking with all the trimmings.
Pictured below was this year’s first place $2,500 winner, Travis Jones, along with head Newton Conover High
School football Coach, Matt Beam, and myself. We had a golf putting tournament, corn hole tournament, 50/50
raffle, poker table, music and much more. We had over 500 people attend and it was a great event to get the
community, school and team ready for Monday August 1- the official start date of the 2016 North Carolina High
School Football season.

Mentoring Program
In February 2016, General Managers of both Toyota and Honda of Statesville signed up with other employees to
be involved in a United Way Mentoring Program at Statesville Middle School. All ten employees were assigned
one student to mentor once a week for the months of March, April and May. A meeting was held to instruct
employees on how best to interact with the students. No tutoring was involved. We just set good examples for
the kids -- talked with them about how the year was going, how their families were doing and how their grades
were looking. We also emphasized the importance of an education, staying in school and going to college. Those
who volunteered for this very important “giving back” experience were: Flow Honda: Renee Fellner, Santanna
Fletcher, Bobby Gray, Brian Nicolay. Flow Toyota: Kemmie Davidson, Mike Glover, Todd Harkins, Cordell
Hughes, John Mykins.
I fell in love with the girls who were assigned to us and just knew they needed people who genuinely cared about
their well being. Schools are full of children in homes with low income or no income – or single parents working
two jobs with the other parent not around. Being in this program was a way to make a difference for children in
those circumstances.
The first day I met the girls, I left and did not know if I wanted to be involved in the program. After a little while
we helped the girls know that someone cared about them and they didn't have to do dishes or vacuum the house to
get a hug or recognition. They soon began to look forward to seeing us! Just like everything else, some days you
just don't want to go, but even on those days, once we saw their faces light up with joy and excitement, we were
so glad we were faithful to our task.
Renee Fellner was great with the girls. She has 5
sons of her own and she's already a pretty amazing
Mom and friend so it was easy to follow her lead.
We were there for the girls to learn but I think it
was the mentors who learned the most. I thought I
didn't have any extra time to do anything because I
work in Automotive Sales and I have a son at
home. However, that sacrifice of 1 hour each
week taught me that it is not all about me and I
can make the time to make a difference.
When the program was over, our General Manager
took all the mentors out for a thank-you luncheon.
He asked us what we had learned and I said my
girls were great fun and I wanted to mentor them
again next year.
Thank you to all the employees who were a part of
this giving back to the community! Job well done!

Share the Love Campaign
Subaru’s Share the Love Campaign donated $250 for every new Subaru sold or leased to the customer's choice
of the following charities: ASPCA®, Make-A-Wish, Meals On Wheels Association of America®, and the
National Park Foundation. This donation time period was November 2015 thru January 2016.
In addition to the national organizations listed above, Subaru retailers once again had the opportunity to add a
local charity of their own. Flow Subaru of Winston-Salem chose to donate to the Forsyth Humane Society and,
on May 25, Subaru presented the Forsyth Humane Society with a check in the amount of $16,235. Below is a
photograph of the check presentation ceremony. Pictured from left to right are: William Moxley, a
representative for the Forsyth Humane Society, Alex Paschold, TJ Nelson, Jay Knapp, Don Flow, David


Flow Motors also hosted an employee appreciation bowling event at Creekside Lanes in July and collected
school supplies for local children in need. The plan is to continue collecting throughout the month of July and
then in August to stuff backpacks to hand out to children who have back-to-school needs.

We hosted a blood drive through the American Red Cross in July and were able to collect 22 units of
blood! That is enough blood to save up to 66 lives!

We hosted an employee appreciation picnic in the spring and
had a great turnout. We spent time getting to know each other outside
the workplace and also getting to know each other’s families. Each
department got to create a fancy hairstyle for one of their managers,
complete with facial hair, using shaving cream. See page 8 for photos
and find out who won!!

Leukemia & Lymphoma Project
In June 2016, the employees of the Subaru Dealerships of Burlington and Winston-Salem chose the Leukemia
and Lymphoma Society of North Carolina as their charity of choice. To that end, both Subaru dealerships
donated 60 blankets and handwritten notes to Cone Health Cancer Hospital in Burlington and Novant Health
Cancer Center in Winston-Salem. While collecting blankets during June, the Subaru employees wrote get-well
cards for the cancer patient receiving a blanket. Burlington Subaru employees strung the notes up in their
showroom until they were delivered to the new owners.

Football Camp
On July 17, the first-ever Keenan Allen Football Camp was held at Northern Guilford High School in Greensboro.
Keenan Allen is a receiver for the San Diego Chargers and is a native of Greensboro. Keenan attended North
Guilford High School, so this is the perfect venue for him to give back to the community! Mr. Allen, in
conjunction with USA Football (a non-profit for the NFL for Youth Sports), the NFL and Land Rover/Jaguar,
worked together to provide this free program to area children.
From 9 am until noon, the 7 thru 13 year-old kids were on the field. From 1 pm until 4 pm, the 14 thru 18 year
olds were able to participate. The morning session had 180 kids. The afternoon session had 90 kids. Flow Land
Rover/Jaguar in Greensboro provided display vehicles as well as lunches from Subway.
Mr. Allen has also purchased three Land Rovers
and one Jaguar from Flow!!

Apartment Complex in Winston-Salem because their water was also contaminated. Ed told us “I try to
do what I can, when I can and with what I have - that’s all I know to do.”
Well, thank you Ed for doing so much for so many!
