As principal of Antelope Ridge, there are
many things for me to be thankful for this
time of year. First of all, I’m thankful that
we survived both Halloween and the day
after Halloween being school days. This
is the first time that has happened in
many years. Also, I am thankful for a
supportive community that raised over
$1,000 for a flooded school in Baton
Rouge. This money was raised through
our book fair and Pirate Day. I feel it is
so important for our students to help others in need. It provides them with the
opportunity to witness how small acts of
kindness can make a big difference in the
life of someone else. Additionally, I am
thankful to have such a hard-working and
dedicated staff responsible for your children and their education each and every
day. Their focus on continuous improvement in their practice, rigorous and challenging lessons, and persistence in putting
children first is what helps to make Antelope Ridge the special place that it is. Finally, I want to thank all of the parents
who took the time to fill out our Parent
Survey. In analyzing the survey, there are
many things for us as a system to celebrate and some things
that we want to focus
on.
Here are some of the
highlights:
-What do you like most about Antelope
Ridge?
The teachers
Sense of Community/Environment
Caring Staff
-What do you wish could be improved at
Antelope Ridge?
The parking lot/pick up and drop off
Approach to fundraising
Support for both struggling and advanced students
Snow removal
91.7% of respondents feel that Antelope
Ridge meets the educational and emotional needs of their children.
81.7% of respondents best like to receive
information from the school in the form
of an email.
We will continue to look at the results from
the survey to inform and adjust our practice,
but want you to know that you do not need to
wait for a survey to provide your feedback.
Feel free to call the office or email me directly
at [email protected] if there
is anything you would like me to know.
Please enjoy this Thanksgiving time with
your family as well as the upcoming holiday season.

Testing for Lead in the Water at Student Council News
Cherry Creek Schools
After the Flint, Michigan water crisis, the
Cherry Creek School
District, like the majority of school districts in
Colorado, decided to
undergo water testing, conducted
by an outside, expert entity, to determine whether there is lead in the
water at any schools. We have
posted information about how and
where the tests have been conducted so far along with a Q & A on
our website at http://
Hi everyone! Here is Delaney, our
secretary, with news from Student
Council:
You can find results for the
schools tested so far and new results are posted as soon as they are
completed, so please check back if
your school has not yet been tested.
We raised over 1,000 dollars for the
school in Louisiana.

Climate Survey
As part Cherry Creek School District’s
ongoing efforts to provide safe, supportive learning environments for students and effective partnerships
among students, families, and school
staff, during the months of November
and December we will survey students, parents, and staff about the
climate of safety, wellness, and support that exists in our schools. Third
through fifth grade students will be
asked to report on bullying, school
climate, resiliency factors, and health/
wellness. The student survey is available for parent review on the district
website and at your child’s school.
In accordance with district policy,
parents of students who are to complete the survey will be notified in an
email sent November 9th. Parents who
do not wish for their child to participate
will be given instructions in this email.
Information on how to complete the parent survey will also be provided. Parents
will be asked to provide their feedback on
student safety, bullying behavior, and
overall school climate at their child’s
school.
The district’s Safe Schools Design Team
strongly believes that getting information
directly from students, parents, and staff
is a very important part of making sure
that schools are safe and inclusive learning environments for all children. The
information from the surveys is used to
help guide future safety and prevention
planning. All schools will be given summary reports of their school’s data in
Spring 2017.
If you have any questions about this
survey, please call your school principal
or safety chairperson. You may also
contact Dr. Amy Plog, Research and
Data Coordinator, at (720) 554-4289.
Thank you for your participation!
