THANK YOU FOR ATTENDING THE MY16 BIKE LAUNCH
TARN 10 AND 20
Introducing the Tarn, our new long-n-low, dedicated 27.5+ trail platform with Boost
hub spacing and stealth dropper routing/port.
DID SOMEONE SAY ENDURO?
Our long travel Ariel platform is proving to be a versatile performer. Built from
the ground up around 27.5” wheels it’s equally at home on steeper, faster more
technical trails as it is railing berms at your favourite trail centre.
Available in two full build options for 2016 - Tarn 10 features a 120mm suspensioncorrected alu fork and Shimano’s trusty 2 X 10 Deore drivetrain whilst Tarn 20 gets
the DEORE XT 1 X 11 upgrade, Rockshox Reba fork and dropper post.
Stable, neutral handling, with bottomless feel TRL suspension helps you push harder,
faster and ride for longer.
Both bikes feature the new WTB Scraper sleeved i45 rims that are light (650g),
wide (45mm internal), TCS-ready and laced up to DB spokes and sealed cartridge
bearing KT hubs. Aggressive, trail-focused rubber comes courtesy of CST in the
form of their 27.5x3.0” 60TPI BFT which will keep you stuck to the trail no matter
the conditions.
Both bikes run 160mm travel up front for 2016 and both feature 1 x drivetrains.
Specs have been re-written from the ground up with a focus on out and out speed.
See the Genesis blog for full spec and more details or talk to you Sportline Account
Manager for more information on availability.
The framekit option allows you to build your dream bike.

We’d like to extend our thanks to all those that attended
the MY16 bike launch last month in Milton Keynes. The
reaction to the new models was fantastic and it was great
to be able to showcase the new bikes at the Distribution
Centre. This year saw a huge turn out and judging from the
initial feedback, was extremely useful for you to hear from
the brand teams themselves and get a proper look at the
new models and technology on display.
Highlights from the launch this year were the carbon framed
road disc offerings from Rapide alongside new touring
bikes from Ridgeback and cafe racers by Adventure.
Also seen on display were the brand new Ridley Fenix
SL bikes that made an impact at the Tour de France, the
latest iteration of the Saracen Kili Flyer and some exciting
models from Genesis including the new Datum series and
an updated mountain bike range.
For more details and to check availability on the new
models, please visit Sportline B2B or contact your Account
Manager.

SWISS SURPRISE
Lenzerheide, Switzerland, a new venue for the World
Cup and a new track for the riders to tame. We were all
looking forward to this one and it didn’t disappoint, from
the drive into the mountains to the high speed track that
had a little of everything.
Blessed with sunshine for the whole weekend, fast, loose
and dusty were the key words. At just over three minutes
the track wasn’t too long but with so much going on it
seemed like much longer. In qualifying Manon found her
groove and slotted into a decent third place, knowing she
could build on the run come final time as her confidence
built on the dusty hill. Matt and Sam where up against
it and on such a fast track times were tighter than they
have ever been at a World Cup race. Even the slightest
mistake would cost them dearly. They both put in solid
runs and prepared to go faster in the final.
The crowds rolled in from early in the morning and by
race time in the afternoon they lined the track and filled
out the finish arena. The scene was set with a spectacular
Swiss mountain backdrop and riders leaping down the
finish area drop to greet the fans. In the women’s race
Manon had a great run, putting aside the misfortune of
previous weeks she looked back in charge and strong,
crossing the line without a mistake was a relief for the
2014 World Champion after the Leogang mishap, she
did that and more with a fine second place to add to her
World Cup podium tally.
For Matt and Sam it was a tough day in the office, fighting
to carry speed as the rocks and roost morphed into one
and the fastest way down the hill evolved through the
day. Tough in these conditions to balance your race run
between smooth/carrying speed and aggression/attack.
Again the times in the men were close and Matt managed
to hang on for 22nd place and despite a slide out and
meeting with a Swiss tree, Sam slipped into 33rd.

MADISON GENESIS
NATIONAL ROAD RACE CHAMPIONSHIPS
The cathedral city of Lincoln was to play host to the National Road Race
Championships for 2015. The city is already synonymous with the oldest national
series race in the UK and was given the fitting privilege of hosting the championship
race to mark Ian Emmerson’s final promotion of the event. To comply with
championship rules the race covered two relatively straight forward - on paper at
least - 45km opening circuits before heading back into Lincoln to cover eight laps of
the familiar 13km circuit that featured the infamous ascent of Michaelgate.
Under the pressure of Madison Genesis and Team Sky at the front of the pack in the
exposed cross wind section, the bunch split into several groups and by the end of the
first five kilometre stretch an elite lead group of 23 riders had established with Tom
Stewart, Mark Mcnally and Matt Cronshaw representing the team. With four riders
from Team Sky also in the group, the pace never dropped and although two riders
would eventually bridge across from the main bunch, the remaining riders from the
179 starters would never see the front of the race again.
The group worked well together and maintained a healthy lead until the first ascent
of Michaelgate whereupon an acceleration by eventual winner Peter Kennaugh
from Team Sky, split the front group and four European based riders went clear with
all of the domestic riders in the chase.
Despite the best efforts of the chasing group the leaders gradually pulled further
away over the remaining laps. Tom and Mark fought hard, attacking several times
on the final lap to secure a minor placing but were eventually swallowed up at the
start of the final ascent to the finish.

RIDLEY
TOUR DE FRANCE DÉBUTS
For a few men in the bunch and people in the caravan July saw their first Tour de
France. This was especially the case for the Lotto-Soudal team who brought along
Jens Debusschere and Tim Wellens for their Tour début. The staff supporting the
riders had some new faces as well in the form of mechanic Jean-Pierre Christiaens
and Sports Directors Bart Leysen and Frederik Willems.
With varying levels of Tour experience, the team exceeded all expectations with
stage wins and green jerseys; can it be down to anything other than the bike choice?
The team were riding the finest handmade Belgium carbon frames from Ridley that
money can buy and although some of the riders favoured the Noah SL due to its
stiffness and aerodynamic advantages, others stayed on the new Fenix SL…
The Fenix SL is the most recent step in a continuous process. In 2004 the Ridley
Damocles was introduced to tackle the technical pavé in Belgium. Bike designers
continued to work hard creating bikes versatile enough to cope with these
challenging sections and in 2013 Ridley launched the Fenix Classic. During the
2015 spring classics though the riders rode on the first prototypes of the Fenix SL light, stiff and comfortable are the key words. The bike is 15% lighter, 8% stiffer and
5% more compliant than its predecessor and was ridden with great success along
the whole of the spectacular 2015 Tour de France route.
