Effectual Fervent Prayer
Man was not created to pray originally by God, because HE knew when to come and
what to do, man also knew what to do per time
Before the fall, God used to seek man but after the fall, man has to seek God – prayer
is therefore one of the major ways to seek and see God - 13/8/13

Prayer is the key to unlocking the door to joyful life; it is an act that can be
performed by any creature of God
Prayer is NOT complaining and telling God our problems, neither is it a way of
changing God or HIS will
Prayer — is converse with God; the intercourse of the soul with God, not in
contemplation or meditation, but in direct address to him. Prayer may be oral or
mental, occasional or constant, ejaculatory or formal.
Prayer presupposes a belief in the personality of God, his ability and willingness to
hold intercourse with us, his personal control of all things and of all his creatures
and all their actions.
What makes prayer effective?
 The Word – understand that the Word of God is the will of God; many do not
receive what they are asking for because it is not the will of God for their
lives. God performs the counsel of HIS servants who remind HIM of HIS
promises in the bible
 Righteous Living – this is not talking about self-righteousness but the
righteousness that we get through Jesus, the Bible says “…we are the
righteousness of God in Christ Jesus” – 2nd Corinthians, 5:21
 Fasting – Jesus said this kind cannot go out except by prayer and fasting.
Fasting is a tool for spiritual growth and development and your spiritual
understanding helps in your effectiveness on the prayer altar
 Dedication – this is a deadly commitment to whatever you want to do, in this
case, prayer. Jesus said “…men ought always to pray…” Luke 18:1 for prayer to
be effective, we must be dedicated to it
 Secret place experience – the secret place is the place of receiving, you must
learn to go to the secret place to receive fresh fire, anointing and insight. It
could be a mountain, wilderness or even your room
What does it mean to be fervent?

It means something that is very hot
It means something very intense
In this case, it means praying a Word-based prayer with high intensity. When
praying such prayers, you don’t mind the situation or people around you; you
concentrate and focus on God who is able to hear prayers
Who should pray?
Every living creature seeing that there is always a need to pray – we have an
example of this in James 5:17, which tells us about Elijah being like every other
person and the effect of his prayer on nature – you can also do that, but you must
direct your prayer to Him that answers all prayers – Psalm 65:2
For your prayers to be effective, you must be in a relationship with the One you
want to pray to, this is very important because the prayer of a sinner is an
abomination to the Lord
Where can we pray?
Anywhere, as long as the spirit leads you to pray, for instance, Jonah prayed in the
belly of a fish and God heard him from the depth of the sea. Also David said in Psalm
139: 7 that “Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy
presence?” this implies that God can see and hear you wherever you are located, so
take your time to communicate with God in all situations and at all places
When can one pray?
It should be noted that God did not specify that it’s only at some period or times that
we should pray, you can pray at any time and for as long as your spirit leads you
Do you know that sometimes you may not be in the mood to pray, but the Holy
Spirit will just tap you and inspire to pray seriously more than you can imagine, that
is why you must be spiritually sensitive in order to pray an effective prayer
Altar call for movement to the next level
By prayers and sacrifice, you can move to the next level in life, because life is in
phases or stages and men are in sizes, you can move to the higher phase of your life
through prayers, I stand upon this altar of prayer to declare into your life that, the
Mighty Hand of God shall take you up to the next phase of life in Jesus name
