Community members choose winning artwork for
the Andamooka Logo
Submissions were sort for a community logo representing Andamooka and the
artworks were on display in the Andamooka Community Hall for the community to
vote on their favourite Adult submission and Children submission.
The Adult submission winner Mash Clifford based her design on the Opal Miners
Tools of the past. The Children Submission winner Isaac Kemenyvary based his
submission on the Andamooka Primary School Logo.
Mash Clifford's winning artwork will be displayed on all new signage. Isaacs winning
artwork will also be displayed on signs for facilities that are child friendly areas. The
logo is a tourism initiative and will be used on local information signs such as:
Information signs at the town's entrance, The sign near Pimba, The Andamooka
Mining Machinery Museum, The Andamooka Playground, The Andamooka Historical
Cottages etc.

HIRE A HUBBY
Council for the aging ( COTA ) has established a strategic partnership with well-known national property
maintenance brand Hire A Hubby who has been providing quality property maintenance services since
1996.
In city suburbs and rural towns many older residents are frightened to contact repairmen for fear of having
jobs over priced or shoddy workmanship. Older people are vulnerable too, they can be physically hurt or
have sentimental objects stolen from their homes by unscrupulous workmen.
All COTA home maintenance service work is carried out either by Hire A Hubby franchisees or employees of
Hire A Hubby who operate COTA’s home maintenance service under license, authorised by COTA
All tradespeople are fully licensed where appropriate, police checked annually, are insured, hold a work
health & safety certification, have photo ID, uniforms and branded vehicles and offer quality workmanship
to COTA members.
Andamooka Community Support Service is talking with COTA C.E.O. Lorenzo Zanini, with the idea of having
this service extended to Andamooka. Lorenzo has a franchisee willing to make the trip but he needs some
appointments to make the trip worthwhile.
The franchisee will view each job and give the householder a written quote; if the quote is agreeable there
will be some discussion about deposits and later payments, but there is no obligation for the householder
to accept the quote.
Householders do not have to be COTA members to receive this service.
Householders who would like more information on this service please contact Jean, at the Andamooka
Community Support Service, 86727238.

Brain Teasers
How many seconds are there in a year?
(Hint: You don't need a calculator)
24. If you said 12 for January 2nd, February 2nd,
etc that's close, but you forgot about January
22nd, February 22nd and so on. If you are a math
whiz and didn't need a calculator to perform 60 x
60 x 24 x 365, then 31,536,000 works too. If you
used 365.25 to account for leap year, then you are
a human calculator.
__________________________________________
What 12-letter word has each of the vowels in the correct order
without any repeated vowels?
Abstemiously. It's 12 letters long and the letter y is
considered a vowel in certain cases, and is included. Facetiously is another word that has all the
vowels in order, but it's only 11 letters long.
__________________________________________
There are two ducks in front of a duck, two ducks behind a
duck and a duck in the middle. How many ducks are there in
total?
Three. They're all in a row, so ducks 1 and 2 are in
front of duck 3, ducks 2 and 3 are behind duck 1
and duck 2 is in the middle.
