Saline Community Against These Turbines (SCATT) The proposed NW Saline Wind Farm by ABO Wind Ltd Nice view? This is what it could look like 120m high 390 feet Plans are afoot to build seven 120m (390 feet) high wind turbines to the North West of Saline. The photo montage above shows the impact they will have on the landscape, the view is from the church. SCATT has been established to oppose the proposed wind farm in this location. Fife Council’s guidelines on the proximity of wind farms to homes sets a stand off distance of 2Km between settlements and turbines. This proposed wind farm has 200 properties within that 2km distance. This leaflet is to inform you of the possible impact the development may have on you and your village. ABO Ltd are planning to hold a public exhibition in the autumn. Please attend this to learn more about their plans. Even if you aren’t one of the 200 houses in the 2km range your friends or neighbours may be. Please help us to support them in opposing this development which we feel is in an inappropriate location. The monitoring mast 50m or 165 feet You will see these things and you will possibly hear them, especially at night Glen Devon turbines are 93m high & 8Km away 11.5m 38feet Saline Church Saline Church to scale with the planned turbine "Wind turbines don't Make Good Neighbours Imagine The Vibrating Thump and Bump Of An All Night Disco On Your Doorstep!" Contrary to what ABO Wind say in their leaflets Wind Turbines are noisy, particularly at night due to the intermittent mechanical clunking and low level vibration as the giant blades pass their supporting tower. Sleep disruption and deprivation over a prolonged period of time presents serious health risks. Exhaustion, mood problems, problems with concentration and learning are natural outcomes of poor and interrupted sleep. That’s why a 2Km buffer zone is recommended (Fife’s Guidance) but nearly 200 homes would be within the 2Km distance. Are you one of them? Some information you should be aware of Paid to ABO for the electricity generated The Money Pie 2% Paid to ABO from the Renewables Obligation (See note) To Local Community 1% 51% 46% Landowner Note: The renewable obligation is a tax on your energy bill How much money is this each month? E.on “Current wind-energy subsidies are so high that wind turbines are now being built in unsuitable locations” Impact to local roads Country lanes Trashed. Hundreds of heavy lorries during construction. The Danish Government has now stopped the erection of onshore turbines because of potential health problems associated with noise. Nearly 200 homes in Saline will be within the 2Km stand off distance set by Fife Council in its planning guidance.
