DOING TOGETHER WHAT NEITHER CAN DO ALONE.
PRESENTING THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST TO
DEAF PEOPLE—IN THEIR CULTURE & LANGUAGE
Prayer Support: 1) Deaf people to be changed by God. For each of
us to ‘hear’ what the spirit is saying to the church, and for the upcoming
conference. 2) Physical and financial health for our family. 3) David’s
Preparation to interpret for upcoming World Deaf Conference.
SEEING THE
GOSPEL
The man answered,
“How can I understand? I need
someone to explain
it to me.” Then he invited Philip to
climb in and sit with him.
Those many years ago, over 25 now, by
my recollection, God spoke to us to “go
to that [Deaf] chariot and stay near it.”
and we have, since that time “climbed in
and sat” with them. We continue to sit
with Deaf people in the Philadelphia region still today.
Philly Deaf, which began as Deaf Chris-
tian Church in 1995, is made up of Deaf
and Hard-of-Hearing people who, otherwise, literally, would not hear the gospel.
Some adherents to Philly Deaf were
members of other religions, did not have a
church interpreter, did not understand the
gospel, and the language barrier prevented them from getting the full picture of
Christ had done for them, and why.
I remember those first days of ministry in
1995 wondering if this would continue
past a month or a year. 18 years later, we
continue to minister to Philly Deaf people
who need to “believe and be baptized.”
The gospel message of Jesus Christ is the
same as when Philip preached to the Ethiopian, but, in Deaf Missions, the mode of
delivery is manual and visual.

FAMILY WATCH
It hasn’t been long ago that we were reporting on the boys’ schooling and
Bible Quiz. Now, we’re sharing about the girls schooling and the boys’
work. Isaac has graduated and is working on a Farm in Morris, Il. He’ll
attend an E.M.T. training this winter. Drew is a Junior in high school with
Honors and on the Dean’s list. Sofia is beginning K, being homeschooled
by Barbara. Elize is growing like a weed, and David is trying to keep up!
