4-H Club Schedule
The Winter Season is here, but it does not
feel like it! We hope that you enjoyed the
holidays, and are well rested. As we step
into the months of weather changes and
back to school, start thinking about what you
want to do better, accomplish or continue in
the year 2017. Get out a piece of paper and
write down your goals so that you can keep
track of your “New Year Resolutions”!
While you have your goals sheet out, why
not think about what you could do to attend
4-H camp this summer. In this month’s issue
of Clover News, we have included
information about camps you are eligible for
and some options on how you can pay your
way to attend. Create a plan to do more in
4-H and become active in your community.
Best wishes,
Mr. Kane Reeves and Mrs. Sharon Tubbs

FIND YOUR HEALTHY EATING STYLE
Create a healthy style means regularly eating
and variety of food to get the nutrients and
calories you need. My Plate’s tips help you
create your own healthy eating solutions.
FOCUS ON WHOLE FRUITS
Choose whole fruits- fresh, frozen, dried or
canned in 100% juices. Enjoy fruit with
meals, as a snack or as a dessert.
VARY YOUR VEGGIES
Try adding fresh, frozen, or canned
vegetables to salads, sides, and main dishes.
Choose a variety of colorful vegetables
prepared in healthful ways: steamed,
sautéed, roasted, or raw.
VARY YOUR PROTEIN ROUTINE
Mix up your protein foods to include
seafood, beans and peas, unsalted nuts and
seeds, soy products, eggs, and lean meats
and poultry. Try main dishes made with
beans or seafood like tuna salad or bean
chili.
DRINK WATER INSTEAD OF SUGARY DRINKS
Water is calorie-free. Non-diet soda, energy
or sports drinks, and other sugar-sweetened
drinks contain a lot of calories from added
sugars and have few nutrients.

What can you say if you’re offered
drugs?
You know that drugs can cause terrible
problems. Sometimes the hardest part is
saying “NO” to someone who offers you
drugs. It takes courage, but you can do it!
Actually, most teens have made the decision
not to use drugs. If you’re put on the spot,
you can feel like you have no clue what to
say. If you plan ahead, it’ll be lots easier to
stay strong. Ways to say "NO" to drugs:
Check out these possible replies to offers of
drugs.

Everybody’s doing drugs.
[Reply:] I think plenty of people aren’t
doing drugs. Anyway, it’s not right for me.

Pot will make you feel good.
[Reply:] I already feel pretty good. And I
don’t want to mess that up.

If you’re my friend, you’ll get high with
me.
[Reply:] I really like you. I just don’t like
drugs.

Nobody will know.
[Reply:] I’m not taking any chances. I’d be
grounded for life if I got caught.

This is really cool stuff.
[Reply:] I know someone who got really sick
from that. That’s not cool at all.
