Suitability Our History Is Laser Hair Removal Right For You? TRIA Beauty is hard at work to make at-home laser hair removal possible for everyone, but for now, the TRIA System is proven to be safe and effective only on individuals with light skin and dark hair. You ARE a suitable candidate for laser hair removal if: You have naturally medium brown, dark brown, or black hair and your skin is white, ivory, beige, or light brown. You ARE not a suitable candidate for laser hair removal if: You have naturally blonde, red, white, or gray hair; your skin is dark to deep brown or black; or you are of African-American, East Indian, Native American, or Pacific Islander descent. For added safety, TRIA Beauty has developed a proprietary skin sensor (included with your purchase) so you can test each treatment area for suitability, prior to treatment. Clinical trials and rigorous safety and efficacy testing are performed on the device in the United States. The LightSheer diode laser was and still is considered to be the gold standard for in-office laser hair removal by physicians worldwide. 2003 TRIA Beauty, Inc. (formerly SpectraGenics, Inc.) is born. With the formation of TRIA Beauty, Bob, Mark, and Toby immediately turn their attention to their first challenge: How to deliver the same results as the professional LightSheer diode laser, while making it gentle and safe enough for at-home use. 2008 The results of the safety and efficacy testing are so overwhelmingly positive that TRIA Beauty receives FDA clearance for the TRIA Laser Hair Removal System. To measure the long-term results of the TRIA System, follow-up inquiries were conducted with those who participated in the clinical trials. The results of this follow-up show that the majority of the participants remained hair-free for over one year after treatment. Direct from the same team who invented the professional standard for laser hair removal, TRIA Beauty brings the TRIA Laser Hair Removal System home, to you. 2004-2005 2009 After years of research and numerous prototypes, the first TRIA Laser Hair Removal System is sold in Japan. Stay tuned… How It Works How to Use What To Expect It’s all about selective photothermolysis. Big word—simple to understand. The TRIA Laser Hair Removal System can be used on the legs, underarms, bikini line, back, chest, abdomen, arms, hands, or feet —anywhere that’s suitable below the neck. During treatment: Some users experience a warm, prickling sensation, while others experience no sensation at all. As the amount of hair in the treated areas decreases, the sensation will also decrease. Photothermolysis is the process by which the TRIA System’s laser energy targets the dark pigment in the hair, where it is transformed into heat that disables the hair follicle. This targeted process causes the hair to gradually fall out and stop growing back. It is important to understand that visible results are not immediate because hair grows in cycles. Hair ejected Hair in growth cycle Shaved hair during laser hair removal treatment Hair follicle shrinking after laser hair removal treatment During any single treatment, some hair follicles will be dormant with no visible hair growth and some will be in a growth cycle, where the hair is visible on the surface of the skin. To benefit from laser treatment, the hair must be in the growth cycle (visible prior to shaving) during treatment. For optimal results, we recommend a course of six to eight monthly treatments. This is the average amount of time it takes for the majority of the hair follicles to move through the growth cycle and be treated. Let’s get started: 1 Cleanse, shave, and thoroughly towel-dry the skin. 2 Place the skin sensor firmly against the treatment area and press the blue button. 3 When the light turns green, wave the skin sensor window over the energy level light panel on the handle of the TRIA laser. You will hear a series of beeps and see the top light on the handle turn off — this means the laser has been unlocked and is now ready for use. 4 Choose the highest energy level you can comfortably tolerate to ensure optimal results. 5 Apply the tip of the laser to the skin and listen for a start and end beep. This indicates that the device has effectively treated the area. If you hear a buzz, the treatment was unsuccessful. Simply try again. After the first treatment: There will be no visible change to the hair or the appearance of the skin. On occasion, some users experience mild redness that quickly dissipates within 24 hours. After the second and third treatments: Hair growth will begin to lighten and become finer. After the fourth and fifth treatments: You will begin to see a visible reduction in the amount of re-growth, especially in areas where hair growth tends to be dense, like the bikini line for women or the back or chest for men. After six to eight treatments: Hair growth that has been treated and disabled by the TRIA System will not grow back. As a result, the skin will appear smoother and virtually pore-free. Maintaining this smooth, hair-free result may require the occasional spot treatment of stray hairs that were either missed or not disabled completely during the initial six to eight treatments. Cost and Results Comparison The TRIA System vs. Professional laser Hair Removal Based on national averages, the cost of professional hair removal on the legs, underarms, and bikini line only is upwards of $10,000–$12,000* for a full course of treatments. Treatments average upwards of $300–$1,000 per treatment, with most areas requiring five to eight treatments for permanent hair reduction. The size of the area, along with the amount of hair being treated, will determine exact pricing. The cost of in-office laser hair removal in the body by treatment area: • Medium areas like the bikini line or underarms: $300-$450+ per treatment. • Larger areas like the full legs or a man’s full back: $500 - $900+ per treatment**. The good news is that the TRIA System delivers the same, lasting results as the professionals, at a cost of just $795 for the entire body. *Source: American Society of Plastic Surgeons **Source: laserhairremoval.com Stop shaving.
