11/11/2013 - Athletics Meeting Review
Meeting members present:

Tammy Needs Your Vote:
The Athletic Board would like to purchase shirts or a gift certificate for $25 to Classic Stitches in Freedom so
coach’s can pick out their own shirt. Please EMAIL your vote (YES/NO) to Tammy by Friday – 11/15/2013.
Anne Thelen - Treasurer Report:
Athletics Beginning Balance for as of 11/4/2013: $7,206.67
 Note: Athletics and POMS accounts were merged over the course of the past month.
 Anne Thelen: Check req. needed for grill, Frisbee disc equipment & pizza oven
 $250 net Volleyball deposit
Robotics:


$350 given to Robotics on 10/28/2013.
Athletics gave Robotics the money they need for their equipment in trade for Robotics working of one
Track Meet concession stands.
Volleyball:



Anne has volunteered to take over as SNS Volleyball Director. (Thank you Anne!)
Provided Jill Jolly a $25 mall gift card for donating her referee time.
All uniforms have been turned into the office … except for one…you know who you are
Poms:






Will perform for Parent’s Day on November 16th – boy’s basketball, 2:30pm performance.
Vicky will request microphone.
Vicky will provide gift cards to Lena & Sami for helping coach Poms.
Will also perform 3 more times in December.
Poms needed more tights and cheaper shoes, which were purchased by Vicky.
If poms or uniforms are not going to be used they need to go on Craigslist.
o Idea: Have one or more middle school children do this toward service hours.

Girls Basketball Coaches Meeting:

3 teams (5th, 7th and 8th)

Parent’s Meeting: Monday, November 18th @ 6:30pm in the Church basement
o
Kendilyn will send out an email notifying all 5th, 7th and 8th grade team parents
o
Girls/parents to complete the Medical Form & Concussion Form – all completed forms go in the team
folder and travel with the team to each game & practice

Practice Starts: November 25, 2013

Parents Night: Sunday, December 15th --- Game Times are 12:00pm(5th), 1:00pm(6th) and 2:00pm(8th)

5th coached by Mark Thelen, 7th coached by Renee and Kendilyn 8th coached by Bob

8th grade team is combo between Greenville and Freedom and will be taking turns practicing in Freedom &
Greenville. 8th grade will wear SNS uniforms when playing in Freedom and St. Mary’s uniforms when playing at
Greenville.

Tammy to provide Renee & Kendilyn all coaches names, phone numbers & emails addresses

League rules reviewed, Team Roster provided in team folder

Each coach must put a copy of their concussion certificate in the team folder

Renee will send Kendilyn and Bob and additional practice times needed

Bob will request microphone for all home games

Tammy to provide BB concession price list

Vicky will be scheduling workers for all home games (clock, scorekeepers & concessions)

Referee – per Bob, get $20 per game and coaches offer refs FREE drink and snack from concessions

Numbers are very low this year…when the girls’ teams practice together ‘sharing’ 5th quarter players will need to
happen in practice.

All teams- let Bob know if we don’t use the gym during a currently scheduled practice.

Vicky will put the boys & girls basketball game schedules on the SNS website.
Boys Basketball:





Vicky will put the boys & girls basketball game schedules on the SNS website.
Casey (Parent’s Day) took care of buttons, team pictures and thank you cards.
Casey (Parent’s Day) will send pictures and captions to Freedom Pursuit
Jeff will take care of restocking concessions supplies – MD/DMD/DPepsi
OPEN & CLOSE:

Softball:



Tammy to get equipment needed for next year – scorebooks, softballs, clickers, plate brushes for umpires
Tammy to call and request Diamonds if want to do a round robin or tourney
Purchase softball jerseys for both Girls and Boys
Concussion Training --- REMINDER!
 Certificates need to be updated annually.
Athletics Games Posted on SNS Website:
 Vicky will make sure the games get posted on the website. We use Google Calendar.
 Idea: Have one of the middle school kid’s post the games and their time can count as service hours.
Scrip:
Anne: Confirm if the SNS Athletic Association will be using Scrip for Sam’s/Freedom Foods and the simplest
way to execute this process.
Agenda Items for Next Meeting:
1. Talk about money to be put towards other athletic related purposes, i.e. new uniforms for softball.
2. Purchase shirts for Coaches as a Thank you gift for coaching
 Discuss outcome of the vote and next steps.
3. Donation to SNS Playground
4. EXTRAS, EXTRAS – LETS GET RID OF THE FOLLOWING ITEMS!!!!!! CLOSET IS FULL! Put on Craigslist. Have
middle school post items on craigslist to count toward service hours.

o Girls Pom equipment
5. Middle School Field Trips sponsored by SNS athletics for 2013-2014 –
Possible ideas – horse shoes, golf, bowling, tennis & rock climbing

6. Mrs. Perrino was personally invited to attend tonight’s meeting. She had some concerns on how SNS
Athletics is spending their money and wants to discuss future plans for our Board.
