Treatment Services
This leaflet outlines the drug and alcohol treatment options for both
adults and young people in Leeds. It has been updated following
the launch of Forward Leeds; the integrated alcohol and drug
service in June 2015.
This leaflet is aimed at:
• Professionals in Leeds involved in the care and treatment of
people with alcohol, drug and substance misuse problems;
• Frontline professionals who work with adults or young people and
families that have alcohol, drugs or substance misuse problems
• The carers of people with alcohol, drugs and substance misuse
problems that provide help and support to a relative, partner
or friend.
Details of local alcohol and drug services and how to access
these are outlined overleaf.

Forward Leeds
Who is the service aimed at?
Referrals:
Forward Leeds is a free service available to anyone of any age,
gender, background or community in Leeds who misuse alcohol
and/or drugs, or are worried about a friend, partner or family
member misusing alcohol and/or drugs. This new service has taken
over from previous alcohol and drug support services.
Self, GPs, Hospital Teams, Probation/Criminal Justice services, Primary
Care Services, Community Mental Health Teams, Social Services.
What does the service provide?
Forward Leeds provides all the services you need when you are
considering getting help with your alcohol and/or drug use:
• Advice, information and a range of brief interventions
• Training communities in alcohol and drug awareness - how to
signpost to services and deal with substance misuse issues
• Needle Exchange
• Fast-Track Recovery Option (12-16 weeks programme)
• Active Recovery Option
• Prescribing and Detoxification
• Hospital In-Reach Team
• Dual Diagnosis Team (mental health & substance misuse)
• Specialised Midwifery Team to support pregnant women who use
alcohol and/or drugs
• Recovery Housing and Detoxification Housing Options
• Dedicated Sustained Recovery Team and Recovery Support Plans
• Building Recovery in Communities (BRiC) initiative and Leeds
Recovery Academy

The Space
What does the service provide?
Who is the service aimed at?
Residential alcohol detoxification, including alcohol detoxification for
individuals who are stable on a substitute methadone prescription.
Residential alcohol rehabilitation - a 13-week CBT structured
programme.
This service has been set up for people in recovery from drug and/or
alcohol addiction and/or mental ill health.
Referrals:
All referrals are through the Forward Leeds community service.
St. Anne’s do not accept self-referrals or referrals from other
professionals.

What does the service provide?
If offers a space for people in recovery to begin to make sense of
what they want to do next. It also runs activity groups for members
such as arts & crafts groups and relaxation groups.

Carr Beck is a scheme for women drinkers over 16 years old which
allows its residents to continue to drink in a safe environment.

Regent Terrace
Faith Lodge
What does the service provide?
What does the service provide?
Regent Terrace is a residential facility in Hyde Park where
residents are permitted to continue drinking within a safe
environment. This service prioritises single homeless men with
support needs around alcohol problems, with a local connection
to Leeds and surrounding areas.
Faith Lodge is a hostel dedicated to helping men in addiction
recovery, be that alcohol, non-prescribed drugs or gambling.
Refurbished in 2007, Faith Lodge currently houses up to sixteen
male residents aged 18 or over.

Referrals can be made by agencies directly to Faith Lodge.

Who is the service aimed at?
Who is the service aimed at?
AA has over 60 years of experience with all kinds of drinkers
in all phases of active alcoholism and recovery. The support AA
offer is free. The only requirement for membership is a desire
to stop drinking.
Accessible for men and women to share their experience, strength
and hope with each other that they may solve their common
problem and help others to recover from drugs addiction.
What does the service provide?
Sharing experience as peers and hearing experiences of
recovered alcoholics.
Groups meet weekly across Leeds. Patients who are accessing
other forms of treatment are welcome to attend meetings.
Primary purpose is to stay abstinent and help others receive
abstinence.

Who is the service aimed at?
FRANK helps you find out everything you might want to know
about alcohol and drugs (and some stuff you don’t). For friendly,
confidential advice, ‘Talk to FRANK’.

Al-anon offers understanding and support for families and
friends of problem drinkers, whether the drinker is still drinking
or not.
What does the service provide?
Al-anon groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of
alcoholics who share their experience, strength and hope.
There are several groups that meet across Leeds. There are no
waiting lists for groups and it is acceptable to bring a friend to
the first meeting for anyone that may be nervous.
