Oral Rhyming

Watch me make a rhyming word. Rhyming words sound the same at the end.
Select the picture for the rhyming word rip and place it in the pocket chart so
students can see. We will rhyme with rip. Show picture. What will we rhyme with rip?
First, say /rrr/. Then, say ip. Students say the rhyming word slowly. What word rhymes
with rip? Turn over the picture for students to see. Good, zip rhymes with rip. Now,
let’s rhyme another word.
Continue to use the dialogue to rhyme other words.

Assess students as a group on orally rhyming the remaining words.
You did a great job making rhyming words. I’ll say all the rhyming words we made
