Cleaning: Wash metal parts in a suitable solvent such as trichloroethylene, carbon tetrachloride, stoddard solvent, etc. Place the filter element upright in a pan of solvent with the open end above the fluid level. After 15 minutes of soaking, lift out and rinse the outer surface with clean solvent. Do not brush or wipe element surfaces. Do not allow dirty solvent to get inside of the element. Other methods include vapor degreasing and steam cleaning. After visible soil has been removed, the element should be placed in a fixture and reverse flushed (flow from inside to outside) under pressure with a series of abrupt bursts of flow ending with a blast of clean air. Inspection: Head and bowl and should be examined for distorted threads or scoring. Replacement Items: Replace packing rings. Replace element if damaged. Replace defective head or bowl. Lubrication: Before reassembly, lubricate packing rings with Skydrol 500. Lubricate threads on head and bowl with lubricant conforming to Specification MIL-L-4343. Reassembly: Reassemble in the reverse order of disassembly. Lubricate head and bowl threads and tighten 75 in. lbs. Test: None FPD 28.1 R8/96 ©Copyright Purolator Facet, Inc. - 2002- Printed in USA
