Weekly Update FABULOUS SCIENCE: OWL PELLET DISSECTIONS We are kicking our science ecosystems study off with a much loved fourth grade directed science inquiry about ‘What do owls eat?’ Every student will have the opportunity to dissect a large owl pellet and deduce what type of animals their owl ate and identify the preys’ bones. This is sure to be an unforgettable elementary school experience! CALIFORNIA SALT DOUGH MAPS Later this week all students will bring home a medium size piece of cardboard with a basic map of California outlined on it. Students will also have a premixed recipe in a large ZipLock bag that only needs to have water added to it at home to form the dough for their 3D map. Students will make this map at home on the cardboard and bring back to school next Monday morning. We will continue to let the map dry at school and paint and label these topographical maps of California’s major land regions. Thank you for overseeing their mixing of the dough and application of the dough on the cardboard. These always turn out fantastic in the end…it’s a real process.
