Christmas trees have been sold commercially in the United States since about 1850. And the tallest living Christmas tree is believed to be the 122-foot, 91-year-old Douglas fir in the town of Woodinville, Washington. Can you believe it? 6th Grade Chorus INSIDE THIS ISSUE: What you need to remember is that: You should never burn your Christmas tree in the fireplace. It can contribute to creosote buildup. Other than dancing, they had corn hole, which is a game consisting of throwing small bags of corn into wooden holes. They also had Wii games, including baseball, tennis, and bowling. And of course there was dancing. We danced to fun songs including the Cupid Shuffle and many popular pop songs. The Winter Formal was fun for everyone who attended! Upon learning that the bracelet’s profits went to support anti-sex trafficking efforts in Nepal, my mom asked me if I wanted one and I said sure. After the expo, I went home and searched “ Red Thread Movement” online. There I found out the following information: “The Red Thread Movement ‘s Mission is to: generate awareness of the global human rights crime of sexual slavery- particularly of women and young girls; raise financial support for efforts to end sex trafficking in Nepal; and educate girls in Nepal to actively prevent sex trafficking on the front lines. We do this by: sponsoring a safe house in Butwal, Nepalwhere women and young girls who are victims of sex trafficking receive shelter, counseling and vocational training; by sponsoring girls’ sewing classes in villages throughout Nepal that provide young women with the training and resources needed for them to earn a steady income; and by providing Red Thread bracelets to girls in Nepal that they use to educate their friends and other girls about the risk of being trafficked.” At the top of the web page it said "Youth", so I went into it and read that you could sell them in your church or in your school. Because God has truly given me a heart for people in these situations and because I truly want to improve their lives with mine, I wanted to help. A week later I sent in my order form for 200 bracelets, talked to my principal about selling them at school, and set up a meeting to talk to my pastor about it. Last week I presented The Red Thread Movement at church and started selling them there, and I also presented The Red Thread Movement here at school, in chapel. I'll be selling them during lunch and I am extremely excited that I get to do this. I'm feeling very blessed because I can help others in need. WISDOM from GRACE Image yourself as someone that is passionate about finding a certain treasure. You put your whole heart into searching for this treasure and later miraculously found it. Your friends heard about your find and wanted to buy the long lost treasure from you. You said confidently that you would never exchange anything else for this treasure. Knowing God is like finding a costly treasure that is beyond compare. He can also be personified as a huge diamond with many facets. Each of God’s character represents a facet. He the Creator, Life, Love, Pease, Hope, Joy, Door, Good Shepherd, and many more. In Exodus (3:13-14), God says his name to Moses. He says I Am that I Am. God is real, loves you, is great, and is everything we need! None compares with knowing the Lord! In another devotion, I mentioned that we need Christ, but many try to fill their voids with so many other things that only God can truly fill. Nothing that we try to fill our heart with can compare with knowing and having an intimate relationship with the Lord. It is an awesome thing to personally know the real and living Creator of the universe. Psalm 89:5-6- “And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, OLORD: thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints. For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?” God is so amazing and real; we just need to open our hears to Him so we can really see how great and awesome God is. Look at everything around you; His creation, and intelligent people. God still performs miracles! God’s presence changes the atmosphere. I have seen first hand in one service when we were worshiping the Lord and believing Him for something great, miracles took place, whether inward or outer healings, it happened! God still works in the supernatural realm; He hasn’t changed! God is so amazing, but there are so many distractions that we can get caught up in and lose focus in life. Some big distractions that many have, including me, are what our affections are on and what we spend most of our time and thoughts on that aren’t important. This life on earth is short compared to eternity; so don't waste it. Math. 16:26-”For what is a man profited, if he Shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” If you have accepted Christ, be reminded that nothing else can compare with Him. Don't let distractions take you away from knowing the lover of your soul! Nothing is better than living for Christ! “I’ve a hidden treasure beyond a price within my heart I hold; though all other things surround me, still none compares with you!” this is from a song that is so true. Hebrews 10:22-23 “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (For he is faithful that promised)” Keep the faith and hold on to the Treasure. For those that haven’t accepted Christ; ask Jesus to come into my life. This is the most important choice you can make! He’s looking for those that will take time to know and search His heart. Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” In conclusion, Christ is a treasure! Let Him be apart of your life. For those that believe and follow Jesus, don't lose heart! Keep following Him and seek to know Him more. Nothing in life can compare with knowing Christ. Exodus 15:11- “Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?“ The answer to that would be… none! Grace EFCA 8150 Oliver Rd. The Christmas Story Luke 2:1-14 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. And everyone went to their own town to register. So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
