The Emmaus Community Pool will be opened for the
following hours, weather permitting:
May 24 to June 1 and June 7 & 8, Weekends and Memorial Day.………………...Noon to 8:00 p.m.

To beat the season pass rush and avoid waiting in long lines, you can purchase your passes prior to Opening Day. The Borough will sell swimming pool passes on Sunday, May 18, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
and Wednesday, May 21, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Emmaus Community Park swimming pool
office. To help expedite the process, please complete the membership form located inside of the Newsletter and bring it with you when you purchase your passes. Proof of residency will be required for passes to
be acquired at the resident rate.
Please note that a family membership is limited to a mother, father, and dependent children up to 23 years of age
living in the same household. I.D. is required when purchasing a pool pass. Photo I.D. will be required to enter
the pool.
Those who do not purchase a season pass are invited to use the pool at the daily pass rates:

Children under 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult or they will be denied use of the pool. The Borough enforces a policy of zero tolerance for inappropriate behavior, which means that misbehaving patrons may
be banned from the pool for the season, without refund of any fees paid.
Swim lessons will be offered in July. Swim Lessons: Per Week/Per Child—$25.00. Please see the Pool
Manager for information.

Memorial Day Weekend —A Time to Thank
Our Veterans
Sunday, May 25, 2014 - The Emmaus Veterans Committee will
honor all departed comrades buried in the six Emmaus cemeteries. The
Committee invites you to be present for a short prayer service, rifle salute, and taps. It will start at 8:00 a.m. at Calvary cemetery, then proceed
to the cemeteries in the following order: Old Moravian, Moravian at
Ridge Street, Lutheran Reformed, Northwood, and ending at Evangelical
at Second and North Streets.
Monday, May 26, 2014 - The Annual Memorial Day Parade will
begin at 9:00 a.m., moving out from the Emmaus High School parking
lot on North Street, onto Macungie Avenue, onto Chestnut Street to
Fourth Street, and ending at the Memorial Triangle where Third and Fourth Streets converge, where
the Committee will sponsor a Memorial Service. Ex-Marine, Howard Schaffer , who served in the
Vietnam War, will be the keynote speaker. In the event of inclement weather, the Service will be
held in the Emmaus High School Auditorium at 9:30 a.m. We urge veterans to participate with their
Posts, and the rest of the Emmaus Community to attend the Parade and the Service to thank all veterans and everyone currently serving our country in the Armed Forces.
Flag Day Celebration—
Celebration—June 14, 2014
The Flag Day Association’s Annual Flag Day Celebration will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., at the Emmaus Community Park’s Arts Pavilion. Highlights of the Program will include Guest Speaker, Jacob Brown,
Worshipful Master of Emmaus Lodge #792 F&AM, the announcement of the
2014 5th Grade Poetry Contest Winners and the 8th Grade Essay Contest Winners, "What the American Flag Means to Me," the Emmaus Chorale singing several patriotic songs, and a sing-along for the whole Community. Borough Council Member Nathan
Brown will preside over the Celebration and our own Mayor Iobst will issue the Proclamation. Join us
in the celebration honoring our country and flag.
4th Annual Emmaus Community Day
Once again, the Emmaus Parks and Recreation Commission will be hosting its
Annual Community Day on Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.,
at Emmaus Community Park. The event is free to the public and will feature
food, community organizations, crafts, athletic events, music, and demonstrations.
An Old Timers softball game featuring past members of the Emmaus Woman’s
softball league will take place at 1:00 p.m., followed by the Old Timers baseball
game beginning at 5:00 p.m. Community Day will culminate with a free outdoor concert featuring the
classic rock band, Alias.
Come out and support Emmaus and its Community Day event, fun for the whole family!!

This year, the Community Yard Sales are scheduled for:
Saturday, May 31, 2014 with a rain date of Sunday, June 1, 2014, and
Saturday, September 6, 2014, with a rain date of Sunday, September 7, 2014.
Summer Parks Program
The Borough of Emmaus will be sponsoring its annual Summer Parks Program
at Emmaus Community Park from June 23 to August 1, 2014. Residents between 5 and 12 years old are encouraged to attend from 9:00 a.m. to Noon,
Monday through Friday. The Program will consist of organized activities,
sports, games and contests, arts and crafts, and an end-of-summer Field Day.
There is a $35 fee to help offset operating costs of this popular program. No
food or drinks will be served so children are encouraged to bring water and snacks. The Program will end
promptly at Noon. Parents must pick their children up at or before Noon.
Due to the continual increase in interest and demand for this program, all registrations must be completed at Borough Hall, located at 28 S. 4th Street, prior to
your child participating in the program. Registration must be completed by
June 13, 2014 and will not be accepted after that date. Photo ID is required at
