Yikes, she’s still at it! Yep, I’m talking about my mom!
The difference is NOW that I know that she is not ‘selling fleas’ but looking for
‘stuff to sell at a flea market’ things aren’t so scary.
She keeps saying though,
“I know there is more stuff here to get rid of. I just know it. What have I
overlooked?”
My dad and I are plum worn out. Seeking refuge in the man cave is becoming a
daily habit for us.
Earlier this week, (in the cave, of course) as my dad was gently stroking my
head, he looked down at me and said,
“Lucy girl, hang in there! Things will be back to normal in just a few days. The
flea market brouhaha will soon be over with and your mom will be done tearing
up the house. Won’t it be great Saturday night when it’s all over with? We’ll
have some peace and quiet again.”
We both love my mom, but, in regards to this flea market stuff, we think her
cheese has slid off her cracker…if you know what we mean!
So, at supper the other night, my dad asked my mom,
“What are you going to do with all of your spare time after the flea market is
done this weekend?”
After giving my dad a puzzled look she replied,
“Done? What ARE you talking about? There are three more flea markets after
this weekend!”
My dad and I looked at each other and ran for the hills! Help!
Wanted: Temporary home for good man and perfect dog.

Come on out this Saturday, between 8am – 3pm and find exactly what you
didn’t know you needed.
Many flea market vendors are open to a little bartering. So, if you see
something you like, but don’t care for the price that is marked, don’t be shy,
make them an offer. They may say ‘sure’, then again they may make a
counter-offer. That is half the fun of flea market shopping!
On Saturday morning, July 12, we will accept last minute vendors at 7:15am for
this flea market. Payment must be made upon arrival and all restrictions apply.

Flea markets are not only fun, but they are so very easy to participate in! Just
bring your treasures out to the greenhouse, display your items like you would
for a garage sale, sit back and sell. That’s all it takes to be a flea market
vendor.
Booths are still available for all our Flea Market dates!
For participation we require a non-refundable registration fee of $25.00. After
you have your space set up on the morning of the flea market, America’s Best
Flowers will present you with a $20.00 America’s Best Flowers gift card.
Each vendor will be allowed two parking spaces, which equals one booth, to
display their wares. More vendor space is available for an additional $10.00 for
each parking space. Additional space must be requested at the time of the
initial registration. Each vendor is limited to only one $20.00 America’s Best
Flowers gift card regardless of the number of parking spaces (booths). The flea
market will be located in our huge blacktop parking lot. Rain or shine!
Set up time begins at 7am. The starting bell for the flea market is 8am and it
ends at 3pm. Vendors will need to bring their own furnishings, tables, awnings,
chairs, etc. For safety purposes all vendor vehicles must be parked in a
separate area and will not be allowed in the market area until after 3pm. Space
is limited. Don’t wait to register!
We will have a specific area set up to test electrical items.
To register for this weekend’s flea market just stop by the greenhouse on
Thursday or Friday with a check or cash for the number of booths you would like
to reserve. In the memo section of your check please put ‘Flea Market”. For
clarity include a short note stating how many booths you are registering for, a
telephone number and/or email address for contact purposes.

We’re Going to the Dogs!
America’s Best Flowers will be hosting fundraisers on Saturday, July 26, from
11-3pm to benefit both the Dane County Humane Society (DCHS) and Larz, the
new canine member of the Cottage Grove Police Department.
Bring those dirty dogs out to our 4th Annual Dog Wash Fundraiser for the Dane
County Humane Society. Tabby & Jack’s Pet Grooming Service will be here to
trim those long canine nails. Complete the day with your four-legged-best-friend
with a professional photo session with Talbot Photography.
All proceeds from the dog wash, nail trimming and photo session go directly to
the DCHS.
We are excited that Larz will be here on Saturday, July 26, to meet and greet
the public. To help support our four-legged public servant, America’s Best
Flowers will donate 5% of the total July 26 greenhouse sales to the Cottage
Grove Police Department Canine Fund.
More tail wagging details about the dog wash and Larz, in next week’s
newsletter.

Here’s a link to the Food Network recipe for a fresh Caprese salad. A beautiful,
healthy way to enjoy fresh tomatoes and basil.
Caprese Salad
Flea Market this Saturday – 2014 | 8
Flea Market this Saturday – 2014 | 9
1-1/2 pounds vine-ripened tomatoes, cored*
1 pound fresh mozzarella**
3/4 to 1 teaspoon fine salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1/3 cup packed basil leaves, torn or cut into thin strips
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
Directions
Slice the tomatoes and cheese into 1/4-inch thick slices. Arrange on a serving
platter or individual plates in an alternating pattern. Season to taste with salt
and pepper. Scatter the basil leaves over the top and drizzle with the oil. Serve
at room temperature.
*Tomatoes have the sweetest taste if they have never been refrigerated, so this
salad is best prepared right before your meal.
**Fresh mozzarella comes in a clear tub about the size of a sour cream
container and will probably have 3 large or several smaller white balls of
mozzarella floating in water. Or sometimes it’ll be wrapped in plastic.
SEE YOU SOON!!!
