Reassessment Ticket for:
The Iliad
Summative Assessment
Deadline for Reassessment:
Monday, Dec. 14th

*NOTE: Because Exams begin Dec. 16th, you must complete your extended study work
AND reassess within the one week deadline.
STEP #1: In order to reassess:
- All missing and/or incomplete formative assessments (this includes any pre-assessments) MUST
be completed thoroughly and sincerely.
- You must have earned a 70% or below on the summative assessment (Note: If a test has multiple
sections, you can only reassess sections in the test that are a 70% or below as well).
- You must ask Mrs. Shaw if you can reassess, and it is to her discretion based on the above
requirements.
- You must complete the assigned, below required extended study for the section (s) that you want
to reassess (
Note: Only hardcopies of your work will be accepted
).
- You must hand in your approved extended study work and signed reassessment ticket BEFORE
scheduling for reassessment.
- See the “Revised Reassessment Policies” on our class website under the “Reassessment Tickets”
folder for further information.
*Please note: you can only reassess a summative assessment (any of these sections) once.
*The higher score will be taken.
*Reassessments are NOT duplicate tests/quizzes of the original.
STEP #2: Identify the section(s) that you wish to reassess and complete the requirements
for extended study.
☐
Character Identification
● Create a character sketch for each of the characters on the summative assessment.
○ For the character sketch:
■ Draw a picture of the character--in the drawing make sure to include symbolic
things about the character (shield, action, armor, etc.). You may color the
characters as well, but it is not required.
■ Next to the drawing, use brief words and phrases to describe who the character is
(ex: hubris, killed Patroklos, wore Akhilleus’ armor)
■ These drawings can be done on flashcards or paper.
☐
Multiple Choice
(details from the readings/powerpoints; terminology; theories)
● Read closely the online document “Strategies for Taking Multiple Choice Tests”:
http://www.glencoe.com/sec/teachingtoday/downloads/pdf/Strategies_MC_tests.pdf
● Create ten new multiple choice questions about
The Iliad.
● Type your questions in MLA format. Include four possible answers for each question. Include a
key.
● Do not use questions or versions of questions from the original assessment.
☐
Character Matching With Quotes
● Read closely the online document “The Top Ten Tips to Taking Matching Tests”:
http://blog.penningtonpublishing.com/study_skills/the-top-ten-tips-to-taking-matching-tests/
● Create ten new matching questions, using characters from
The Iliad
and your own character
descriptions.
● Type your questions in MLA format. Include a key.
● Do not use questions or versions of questions from the original assessment.
● As the last part of your document, briefly explain with what you feel you can do better regarding
matching sections on tests, based on the top ten tips.
☐
Greek Terminology
(matching)
● Make flashcards for
all
Greek terms that we studied for T
he Iliad
(you will find all of these on
the “Greek Terminology” handout, in your reading, and in your notes/annotations).
● Flashcards must include both the definition and a picture that illustrates/represents the term’s
meaning.
● The reassessment format may not be matching.
☐
Read and Respond
(multiple choice--comprehension and applying terminology to text)
● Read and annotate the following excerpt from the Robert Fitzgerald translation of The Odyssey;
read only the short summary at the beginning to the end of Book One:
http://swcta.net/moore/files/2014/08/The-Odyssey-Greek-Translation.pdf
● Turn in your annotations (these may be typed in MLA format or handwritten).
● Analyze Book One using the same requirements from your Iliad teaching (summary of the book.
Greek terminology, stalling techniques, epic conventions, other insights, etc). Your analysis
should be three paragraphs long and contain textual evidence to support your findings.
● Your analysis should be in MLA format, including in-text citations.
STEP #3:
Bring your reassessment ticket and extended learning materials to Mrs. Shaw for

review and approval.
KEEP IN MIND that it is entirely up to the discretion of Mrs. Shaw to determine
if your work accurately indicates your readiness to reassess. Any inaccurate or incomplete work will be
returned to the student for further review before the reassessment can be scheduled. Additionally, if you
wait to submit your extended study work until the day before the due date, Mrs. Shaw will not be able to
give you feedback and your work will be accepted as is.
STEP #4:
Schedule a day/time to reassess (see Mrs. Shaw for reassessment calendar).
