The Priddis & Millarville Fair Will Run 2 Days This Year
Every year the Fair Executive seems to pack more and more in, and more and more people come to experience the Fair.
So, 2016 will be a trial year for a 2 day Fair. If you are a bench exhibitor, it means that your entries cannot be picked up
until Sunday after 4:00. Please check Department Rules for details.
109 Years of Tradition at the
Priddis & Millarville Fair
On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff of the Millarville Racing and Agricultural Society (MRAS), we send
a HUGE “Thank You” to all the volunteers who help out and contribute in any way, big or small, to create a successful Fair for the communities of Priddis & Millarville.
To our sponsors and area businesses who donate financially – we are forever grateful; your support has added
to the longevity and success of our traditional event. Thank you to our exhibitors, without whom we would not
have a great agricultural-based Fair. Our Society’s members work together, dedicating time all year-round to put
together this small-town Fair which continues to focus on our agricultural roots. Within a few days, our directors
and volunteers change an empty arena and fairgrounds into a showcase, featuring over 560 exhibitors and 3700
entries!
The Fair is an attraction for the young and the young at heart! Welcome and enjoy
the many exhibits in what truly is an “Along for the Ride” family event.
Brent Foster
President, Millarville Racing and Agricultural Society

Showcasing allows for more interaction between the public and llamas along with the ability to ask questions, take
pictures and learn more about these unique animals. A small obstacle course will be set up and the public can try their
skills at leading a llama.
Along with the llamas and alpacas, a number of owners will be setting up display tables with various products.
The public will be allowed to purchase some of these products if they so wish.
A Few Llama Facts:
Llamas, alpacas, guanacos, & vicunas are all members of the Camelid family. Today’s camelids originated on the central
plains of North America about 40 million years ago. From there, about 3 million years ago, llama-like animals dispersed
to South America. By the end of the last ice age, approximately 10,000 - 12,000 years ago, they were extinct in North
America.
Llamas were possibly domesticated from guanacos in the Andean highlands of Peru 4,000 - 5,000 years ago, and are
among the oldest domestic animals in the world. Primarily beasts of burden, they also provided native herdsman with
meat, fibre for clothing, hide for shelter, manure pellets for fuel, and offerings to their gods.
There are an estimated 7,000,000 llamas in South America and an estimated 25,000 to 30,000 llamas in Canada.
