Lyerly Agency CEO To Serve As National Chair
Of American Red Cross Tiffany Circle
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (August 10, 2011) – Elaine Lyerly, CEO of Lyerly Agency is honored to be named to the
position of National Chair for the Tiffany Circle of the American Red Cross. As a long-time supporter and
volunteer of the American Red Cross, Lyerly has experience with many local and national level positions including
serving on a national task force to look into the Red Cross’ ability to raise non-eposidoic contributions.
“The Tiffany Circle has never been in better hands.” Vernon Rose, Director of Major Gift Programs for the
American Red Cross noted, “Elaine has espoused a vision for this network of women philanthropists since her
early days as a member of the Red Cross Board of Governors. Through her personal leadership as a donor and
volunteer, Elaine continues to demonstrate how the American Red Cross remains a symbol of hope not only in
her community, but across the globe.”
This society of women leaders and philanthropists keep a commitment of investing a minimum of $10,000
annually to their local American Red Cross chapters. Since its founding five years ago, Tiffany Circle has risen to
become the most successful major gifts program in the history of the American Red Cross.
“It is also significant to point out that the Tiffany Circle of the American Red Cross has been joined by Red Cross
Societies in Canada and Great Britain, among others, in initiating their own Tiffany Circle programs,” adds Rose.
“This expansion has been solely the work of Elaine for over two years and the fruit of her labor is ripening
quickly.”
The Tiffany Circle name stemmed from the history behind the beautiful Tiffany Glass windows in the Board of
Governors Hall at the historic American Red Cross national headquarters in Washington, D.C.. The windows were
commissioned by then Red Cross President, Mabel Boardman, in 1917 as an act of reconciliation and hope and
were to display all that Red Cross stood for. They were paid for with a $5,000 gift from the Women’s Relief Corps
of the North and a matching donation from the United Daughters of the Confederacy of the South. The continuing
impact that women have had on the Red Cross is what inspired the formation what is now Tiffany Circle: Society
of Women Leaders.
