nouns in Spanish. El is the masculine article, and
la is the feminine article.

Often there are other clues in the spelling to help you
determine the gender of new nouns:

Masculine nouns often end with “-o” or “-on” and
feminine with “-a” or “-ad”
•
But there are some words that break these patterns,
so when in doubt check an authority like your notes or
a dictionary. In the end, you will need to memorize
the gender of the nouns you study.
