DOLOMITENLAUF
PREPARATION WEEK
14./15.-21./22.1.2017
Tradition and hospitality – this is
what the Dolomitenlauf race in
East Tyrol offers. The event will yet
again set the pulses of thousands
of cross-country runners racing
from 19 to 33 January 2017.
The Dolomitenlauf in East Tyrol
represents tradition, style and a
special flair. Whether for professionals or amateurs – there is a
competition available to present
every ability and age group with
a sporting challenge - and all before an impressive natural backdrop! As a founding member of
the Worldloppet, the Dolomitenlauf race has been linked with the
Vasaloppet for over 30 years. The
Dolomitenlauf highlights the diversity of cross-country sports in
East Tyrol based on a particularly
attractive supporting programme.
The starting shots are first fired
with the lighting of the ‘Dolomitenlauf fire’ on the main square in
Lienz and the ‘City-Cross Sprint’.
The oldest cross-country sprint in
the world has given cross-country
sports a new burst of life across
the globe and enriched the image of cross-country with speed
and drama. The 42 km Dolomiten Classic Race has been impressing cross-country runners
from all over the world for over
10 years with its perfect trails
leading through a dreamy winter
landscape. This competition has
been assessed as a long distance
race as part of the Worldloppet for
the last 6 years. Snow is guaranteed thanks to the location of the
event in the northern stronghold
of Obertilliach. The traditional Dolomitenlauf race will take place in
the freestyle discipline on Sunday
at the foot of the romantic Dolomites. The route leads over 60
km to the destination, the main
square in Lienz, where all of the
participants will be celebrated as
true winners. The enthusiasm of
the crowds along the route and
the perfect organisation will ensure
that the Dolomitenlauf is yet again
a cross-country event to remember.
