Faculty/Student Achievements Physics faculty and students collaborated with Louisiana State University chemist John Pojman on an experiment that recently flew on the new suborbital spacecraft, New Shepard, of Blue Origin, LLC. Professor John Pojman, Professor Patrick Bunton and physics students Erika Storvick and Grace Bunton traveled to Blue Origin’s West Texas Launch Facility near Van Horn, Texas, to complete preparations for the experiment to launch. This was the fourth flight of the New Shepard craft; an abbreviated video of the flight can be seen at www.blueorigin.com/. The experiment, which was constructed in the Jewell Department of Physics, was designed to test whether a very tiny force at the interface between two miscible fluids could cause fluid flow. Data analysis is underway. Daisy Awards The Department of Nursing recognized two individuals in May with Daisy Awards. The recipients were nominated by students and/or faculty in the department.
