~Morning Service of Worship~ The Lord’s Day - July 31st, 2016 10:45 AM Prelude Welcome and Announcements - RE Ed O’Neal * We welcome UAH campus minister (RUF) Rev. Reid Jones today. * Start back Wednesday Night Fellowship - August 17th * Tricky Tray Auction is August 31st. * Fall Kidz Huddle Groups start September 13th Meditation - Matthew 16:15-18 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Call to Worship - Hebrews 4:14-16 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Invocation *Hymn of Worship - Isaiah 43 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you And the waves will not over-come you. Do not fear. For I have redeemed you. I have called you by name, you are mine. Chorus: For I am the Lord your God, (echo) I am the Lord your God, (I am) The Holy One of Israel Your Savior For I am the Lord your God, (echo) I am the Lord your God (I am) The Holy One of Israel Your Savior I am the Lord (Do not fear); [Repeat 3x] When you walk through the fire, You’ll not be burned. And the flames will not consume you. Do not fear. For I have redeemed you. I have called you by name, you are mine. (Author unknown, 2005 RUF Hymnal, CCLI #2815163) Confession of Faith - Nicene Creed (325 A.D.) We believe in one God the Father Almighty; Maker of heaven and earth, and all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father; by whom all things were made; who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge both the living and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end. And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets; and we believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church; we acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. *Hymn of Response - Whate’er My God Ordains Whate’er my God ordains is right, Holy His will abideth. I will be still whate’er He does, And follow where He guideth. *Hymn of Praise - Praise to the Lord, the Almighty #53 My God is true, Each morn anew Sweet comfort yet shall fill my heart And pain and sorrow shall depart Confession of Sin - O most great, most just and gracious God; You are of purer eyes than to behold iniquity; but You have promised mercy through Jesus Christ to all that repent and believe in Him. We confess that we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God. We have neglected and abused Your holy worship. We have dealt unjustly and uncharitably with our neighbors. We have not sought first Your kingdom. You have revealed Your wonderful love to us in Christ and offered us pardon and salvation in Him; but we have turned away. We have run into temptation; and the sin that we should have hated, we have committed. Have mercy on us, most merciful Father! In Your Son is our salvation, in Your promises our hope. Take us for Your children and give us the Spirit of Your Son, and in the end receive us into Your glory, through Jesus Christ our only Savior. Amen. Assurance of Pardon - 1 Timothy 1:15 The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. *Hymn of Thanksgiving - Jesus Loves Me, This I Know #189 [Children preK-1st Grade are dismissed for Children’s Church] Ministry of Prayer - Taylor Stewart Worshipping God with His Tithes and Our Offerings Ministry of the Word - “Two Parables on Lostness” Luke 15:1-10 Rev. Reid Jones He is my God, Though dark my road. He holds me that I shall not fall Wherefore to Him I leave it all Whate’er my God ordains is right, He never will deceive me He leads me by the proper path, I know He will not leave me I take, content, What He hath sent His hand can turn my griefs away And patiently I wait His day Whate’er my God ordains is right, Though now this cup in drinking May bitter seem to my faint heart, I take it all unshrinking Whate’er my God ordains is right, Here shall my stand be taken Though sorrow, need, or death be mine, Yet I am not forsaken My Father’s care Is round me there He holds me that I shall not fall And so to Him I leave it all (1998, David Braud Music; Words by Samuel Rodigast, Music by David Braud, CCLI #2815163) *Benediction Postlude *- those who are able, please stand.
