What Is the Toler Ten?

What is the Toler 10
The Toler 10 is a school-wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support system to help increase student positive
behavior, student success, character, and collaboration while decreasing negative student behaviors and choices.
The 10 non-negotiables are:
1. When responding to any adult, you must answer by saying “Yes ma’am” or “No sir.”
2. Make eye contact.
3. Respect each other’s comments during discussions.
4. Surprise others by performing random acts of kindness. Go out of your way to do something surprisingly kind
and generous for someone at least once a month.
5. When you cough, sneeze, or burp, do it into the inside of the elbow. Afterwards, you should say excuse me.
6. Do not smack lips, tsk, roll eyes, or show disrespect with gestures.
7. Always say thank you when given something. If thank you is not said after 3 seconds it will be taken back. No
excuse for not showing appreciation.
8. While with a substitute you will obey the same rules as you would when I am with you.
9. We will follow certain classroom protocols. We will be organized, efficient, and on task. In order to do so, we
must follow these rules
A: Do not get out of your seat without permission
B. Do not speak unless you are asked
10. When in a line, walk single file, two to three feet behind the person in front of you with your arms at your
sides. You should face forward at all times. There will be absolutely no talking. If one person talks the whole line
goes back to where it began.
How it all Works
All staff members and students are members of one of five Toler houses. Each house has a name derived from a
different language, a trait represented in the house name, and a house color. The houses are:
 Dignitate: Latin, Dignity, Red
 Rispetto: Italian, Respect, Blue
 Shukrani: Swahili, Gratitude, Yellow
 Determinacion: Spanish, Determination, Green
 Ethica: Greek, Integrity, Black
The Point System
All students can earn points for their house. At the end of each grading period the house with the highest number of
points will have a celebration for their entire house PreK-5.
The point system is as follows:
1 point: Caught following the Toler Ten.
Having all binder requirements weekly.
3 points: Monthly agenda signed each day
