(continued from first page) she served on Houston’s Parks board under former Mayor
Oscar Holcombe. For Mrs. Beach’s civic service, Montie Beach Park was named in
her honor. However, The Houston Press reported that she would rather talk about
her home, “Beachmont”, and garden in Houston than any of the accolades she received. She and her husband, Mr. Ira Monta Beach, taught dance during the early
1900’s in a time of great change in the art, with the creation of the Charleston and
the Long Boston dances, just to name a few. Mrs. Montie Beach passed away in November1964 at the age of 84.
Did you notice some changes at Montie Beach Park?
Trees For Houston, a local non-profit, partnered with
the Houston Texans to plant 20, 15-gallon trees at
Montie Beach Park on March 17th. The new additions
to the park look great!
On March 19th, the MBCC volunteers collected 6
trash bags of trash and recyclables from the park.
Thank you to the volunteers who helped improve our
neighborhood.
March MBCC Yard of the Month!
Congratulations to Emily and Matt, selected for this
month’s award with their home ready for front-porch
entertaining!
