The Bath Bomb Bible
Intro
So you want to have some fun and make your own amazing Bath Bombs.
Perhaps you are sick of paying top dollar for long relaxing soaks. Maybe you’re
looking for a great way to bring the family together. Or perhaps you want to
craft yourself some magic as gifts, to sell or for personal enjoyment. Either way,
you have come to the perfect place. Thank you for purchasing and we look
forward to hearing about your enjoyment.
We at Ariana Glow have done our fair share of bath bomb experimenting for
ourselves and our clients. This book highlights the very simple process of
creating bath bombs and gives our 10 favorite, amazingly simple recipes that
we’ve found that you, your family and your friends will love.
It certainly does not give you every answer about cooking or baking and the
best part of having your own kit is the ability to experiment yourself and find
your own recipes and variations.
WARNING: Some of the guidance in this book may make you look like a genius
crafting professional. You might not be ready for the attention. Use with
caution.
The #1 Frustration When Making Bath Bombs
Before we start there are a few things to clarify:
1. Don’t hit the metal molds with metal spoons to release. This will dent them
and you shouldn’t need to tap them hard. Instead use a wooden spoon, but
be careful.
2. THE BIGGEST frustration we’ve come across when crafting your bombs and
fizzies comes from the ingredient sticking in the molds and then not coming
out properly. Let’s address this NOW - If you’re worried it’s clear what the
solution is.
The MAIN Reasons for Bath Bombs Sticking Are:
• Not enough oil used in the mix - We will cover recommendations later
• Not leaving the ingredient long enough to set
• Not cleaning the inside of the molds before use
• Not twisting when releasing
• Use after bending or denting the molds
• Scratched or damaged molds
If you check you’re not doing any of these first, you should be fine.
Tip For The BEST Bath Bombs
I only have one piece of advice when making your bath bomb fizzers.
WAIT until the bombs are completely dry before taking them out of the molds.
A minimum of four hours. Minimum. Reason one, if you take them out too soon,
there’s a good chance they will break. This is because they’re slightly sticky
while they’re still drying. Reason two, if you let the moisture in the air get to
them they will look bumpy and unattractive? They will still work, but not look so
beautiful.
If you are in a rush and want to do a quick job you can mass produce without
leaving them but you just won’t get the best results. The choice is yours.
Note: All of our Bath Bomb recipes are designed for creating 2 big ones, 3
medium ones or 4 small ones in one batch .
For simplicity’s sake we’ve split this section into 3 parts. Feel free to put this up
on your tablet, smartphone or computer so you can follow along in the kitchen.
Right. Now that’s dealt with… on with the ‘How’.
The Process:
How to make your very own Bath Bombs
Step Number 1 - Gather Together Your Supplies
This will vary depending on the recipe you are following but for the most basic
results these are the ingredients you will need.

•
•
8 oz. of baking soda
4 oz. of citric acid
4 oz. of corn starch
4 oz. of epsom salts (make sure these are fine grained)
Liquid Ingredient
•
•
•
•
¾ tsp. of water
2 tsp. essential oil
1 tsp Almond/Coconut oil
A few drops of food coloring

Whisk
Bowl and cup for mixing
Fluffy towel
Ingredients To Avoid:
Borax: Please don’t use this. Borax (sodium borate) is used as ant poison. If
ingested, it’s toxic to your liver and kidneys. Eating it can cause liver cancer.
Even if you don’t drink your bathwater (and I hope you don’t!), do you really
want to take a bath in this?
Cornflour: Gives the water a nice “soft” texture and makes your skin feel nice...
but it feeds yeast infections. I’d give it a miss!
Step Number 2 - Combine Dry Ingredients
5 minutes
Put all of your dry ingredients (citric acid, corn starch, epsom salts and baking
soda) into a big bowl and stir together with your whisk.
Step Number 3 - Combine Wet Ingredients
2 minutes
Place all of your wet ingredients (water, essential oil, almond oil and food
coloring) into a cup and stir until well mixed.
Step Number 4 - Mix Together
5 minutes
*Slowly* add the liquid one teaspoon at a time to the dry ingredients, stirring in
immediately with a large spoon. The mixture will foam slightly with each
addition, this is normal. Add the liquid until your mixture resembles slightly
damp sand. If you add too much, these will begin fizzing and continue to do so.
It should still be primarily dry, but when you squeeze a handful together, it
should stick in a lump.
Step Number 5 - Pack Mixture Into Molds
5 minutes
Grab your Aluminum mold and pack the mixture into the first half of the mold.
You do not need to prepare the molds in any way. Pack it as tightly as you can!
Then, do the same with the second half. Make it over filled so that when you
push them together there are no gaps in mixture and the metal doesn’t touch
straight away.
Step Number 6 - Press Together And Leave
5 minutes
Add some extra mixture on top of the second half (if you need to) and squeeze
the molds together to create your sphere. Press firmly! Tip: If the mixture isn’t
packing well, place the ingredients back in the bowl and add a tiny amount of
water. Be careful, though – too much water will ruin your bath bomb!
Step Number 7 - Let Dry
4 hours or overnight
Allow to dry for a minimum of 4 hours, or overnight. Remove from the molds
and store in an airtight container until ready to use. If your bath bombs are a
gift, wrap them in cellophane or tissue paper.
