Suggestions for Entries
Musical Instruments, Group Acting, Singing (no lip sync), Skits, Dancing, Story Telling/Prose, Comedy
Routines, Magic Shows, Art, Karate, or Photography Display
Purpose of the Talent Show:
1. Provide a fun, family event that brings the entire school together.
2. Provide an opportunity for the students to cultivate their performance skills.
3. Raise funds for SHE Music Department.
4. The purpose is NOT to determine a winner. No awards will be given.
Here’s How it Works:
1. Complete attached application by Friday, February 23rd. You must attend one of the mandatory meetings.
2. Each act will audition on Wednesday, March 8th (maybe 9th), in the music room. You will be notified by
email as to which time you will audition.
3. Acts will be chosen by the Talent Show Committee, based on evidence of preparation, appropriateness,
and overall variety of talent. You must be prepared!
4. At auditions, each act will receive a critique designed to coach and encourage for the final performance.
5. There is no cost to participate in the Talent Show.
Basic Requirements:
1. Each act MUST have at least one parent representative attend one of the MANDATORY parent meetings
in order to participate in the Talent Show.
2. Applicant may only participate in one act.
3. No more than 2 acts can perform the same song. It’s on a “first come” basis; so turn in your application
early.
3. Applicant must be prepared (well rehearsed)…saying it again to reiterate the importance.
4. Act must be appropriate.
5. Act must NOT be any LONGER than 2 minutes in length.
6. Applicant must wear full costume to audition. We take photos at this time.
7. Applicant must be a current student at Serene Hills Elementary School.
8. Kindergarten - THIRD graders must be in a group act of three people or more.
9. Talent Show production committee reserves the right to reject or approve acts based on appropriateness.
10. Any musical accompaniment must be provided by the participant on CD or USB drive at auditions with
final turn in March 20th.
11. Mandatory dress rehearsal will be Thursday, April 6th, starting at 3:30p.m., and going in order of the

NOTE: It is MANDATORY that you attend audition AND dress rehearsal to participate in the show. You are
agreeing to make all Talent Show dates a priority over afterschool activity conflicts.

I understand that the Serene Hills Elementary Talent Show is not a contest. It is intended to be fun, and
everyone is a winner. I also understand that each act will be chosen based on evidence of preparation,
appropriateness, and overall variety in talent.
