Independent Baptist Missionaries in Morelos, Mexico ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Newsletter for April Published 5/1/2016 Dear Fellow Saints, One year ago today, our family was in Mexico City completing immigration requirements and working to purchase a minivan from a dear brother-in-Christ. I can hardly believe we have been in Mexico 1 full year. May Fifth actually marks the anniversary of when we were able to drive down to Cuernavaca. Much has transpired in twelve months on the mission field. This year alone, we had a part in seeing 16 people come to know Jesus Christ as Saviour. They live in our area of the city and never before heard the Gospel. While out soul-winning yesterday, I gazed over the valley into which I was descending on foot and happened to notice the seemingly endless chain of stacked houses on the hills beyond. It is unbelievable how many unreached families live within a 5-mileradius of our home. I had the joy last month in soul winning with my father-in-law. Courtney's parents flew down April 2nd and stayed until the 16th. It was a revelation for them in many ways how different things are in Mexico, but the greatest blessing was simply having them here. Courtney and I were able to go on a date without the kids! That is a blessing not to be taken for granted. They also watched Chloe for a couple hours in downtown Mexico City's Starbucks while we took Lily and Obadiah to the U.S. Embassy for passport-renewal. Of course, the hardest part was bidding farewell at the airport security gate. We thank God for family who not only understand why we are here but also make an effort to take part in it: not just financially but in learning some Spanish and visiting the field for a few days. We were blessed this past Thursday with seven in attendance at our Bible Study, the young men who came plan to invite other college students to attend. There are many students who desire an opportunity to practice English, and what better opportunity than in fellowship following a Biblemessage in Spanish? Considering how quickly our Bible studies will likely grow with Mexicans bringing more Mexicans, we need to purchase chairs. Please pray we find a good deal on stackable chairs this week or next. Our lawyer met us at the immigration office last week, and we completed the application for Courtney's and my visa extensions. Upon approval, we will return to the INM for fingerprinting and receive our residence cards. This will allow us to continue working in Mexico until 2019. By law, we must be here 4 years in order to qualify for permanent residency. Our plan is to acquire permanency before taking our first furlough – Lord willing in the autumn of 2019. May God bless every one of you as you earnestly contend for the faith! - Josiah, Courtney, Lily, Obadiah and Chloe Jones Sending Church Support Address Contact Information Fellowship Baptist Church P.O.
