The Yale Family
In 1908 Rodney Horace Yale published The Yales And Wales, which contains information on the
Yale Family back to approximately the year 850. His grandson, Donald Rodney Yale, published
the second edition of The Yales And Wales sometime after 1980. There is a great deal of biographical text regarding the earlier ancestors of the Yales in the book published by The Yale Family: it is
not my intention to copy that information into this chapter of Many Branches Of A Family Tree.
First Generation
1. John1 Yale, son of David Lloyd Ap Ellis and Gwenwhyfar Lloyd, birth date unknown.
He married twice. He married Elizabeth Mostyn. Elizabeth is the daughter of Thomas Mostyn.
He married Agnes Lloyd. Agnes is the daughter of John Lloyd.
John Yale and Agnes Lloyd had the following child:

He married Anne Lloyd about 1612. Anne is the daughter of George Lloyd and Anne Wilkinson.
She married Theophilus Eaton in London, London, England, about 1625.
Thomas Yale and Anne Lloyd had the following children:

1690 in Plas Grono, Wales, at 76 years of age. He married Ursula about
1641. Ursula died February 7, 1698 in Plas Grono, Wales.
20 ii. Ann Yale was born in Chester, England 1615. Ann died December 14,
1698 in Plas Grono, Wales, at 83 years of age.
*21 iii. Thomas Yale was born 1616.
22 iv. Elizabeth Mary Wright was born in Chester, England about 1618.
Elizabeth died before 1625 in Chester, England.
Fourth Generation
21. Thomas4 Yale (Thomas3, David2, John1) was born in Chester, England 1616. Thomas
died March 27, 1683 in New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut, at 66 years of age.
He married Mary Turner 1645. Mary was the daughter of Captain Nathaniel Turner. Mary died
October 15, 1704. Thomas Yale and Mary Turner had the following children:

i. John5 Yale was born in New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut about 1646.
John died December 16, 1711 in New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut,
at 65 years of age. His body was interred in New Haven, New Haven,
Connecticut. He married Rebecca. Rebecca died October 17, 1734.

25 iii. Mary Yale was born in New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut October
26, 1650. Mary died 1704 in New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut, at
53 years of age. She married Captain Joseph Ives 1673. Joseph was born
in New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut 1647. Joseph died November
9, 1694 in New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut, at 47 years of age.
26 iv. Nathaniel Yale was born in New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut
January 3, 1652. Nathaniel died October 29, 1730 at 78 years of age. He
married Ruth Bishop October 21, 1692. Ruth died June 1738.
27 v. Martha Yale was born May 6, 1655. Martha died January 15, 1670 at 14
years of age.
28 vi. Abigail Yale was born May 5, 1660.
29 vii. Hannah Yale was born July 6, 1662. She married Enos Talmage May 9,
1682.
30 viii. Elizabeth Yale was born January 29, 1667. Elizabeth died September 19,
1701 at 34 years of age. She married Joseph Pardee July 30, 1688.

24. Thomas5 Yale (Thomas4, Thomas3, David2, John1) was born in New Haven, New Haven,
Connecticut about 1647. Thomas died January 26, 1736 in Wallingford, Connecticut, at 88 years
of age.
He married three times. He married Rebecca Gibbards December 11, 1667. Rebecca was born in
New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut February 26, 1650. He married Sarah Nash about 1700.
Sarah was the daughter of John Nash. Sarah died May 27, 1716. He married Mary Beach July 31,
1716.
Thomas Yale and Rebecca Gibbards had the following children:
31 i. Hannah6 Yale was born July 27, 1669.
32 ii. Rebecca Yale was born October 2, 1671.
33 iii. Elizabeth Yale was born July 25, 1673.
*34 iv. Theophilus Yale was born November 13, 1675.
35 v. Thomas Yale was born March 20, 1679. He married Mary Benham. Mary
was the daughter of Joseph Benham. Mary died August 18, 1747.
36 vi. Nathaniel Yale was born July 12, 1681. Nathaniel died December 11,
1711 at 30 years of age. He married Anna Peck. Anna was born 1684.
Anna was the daughter of John Peck. Anna died February 16, 1716 at 31
years of age.
Sixth Generation
34. Theophilus6 Yale (Thomas5, Thomas4, Thomas3, David2, John1) was born November 13,
1675. Theophilus died September 13, 1760 at 84 years of age.
He married Sarah Street. Sarah was born about 1690. Sarah was the daughter of Reverend Samuel
Street and Anna. Sarah died November 28, 1784 in Wallingford, Connecticut, at 94 years of age.
Theophilus Yale and Sarah Street had the following children:

ii. Ann Yale was born April 23, 1705. She married William Carter May 8,
1733.
39 iii. Samuel Yale was born January 28, 1711. Samuel died October 6, 1754 at
43 years of age. He married Susannah Abernethy March 11, 1736.
Susannah was the daughter of William Abernethy and Mary. Susannah
died May 30, 1770.
40 iv. Theophilus Yale was born April 10, 1714. Theophilus died January 28,
1759 at 44 years of age. He married Azubah Dewolf July 27, 1738.
Azubah died 1800.
41 v. Sarah Yale was born December 26, 1716. Sarah died July 13, 1784 at 67
years of age. She married Captain Joshua Atwater September 4, 1740.
Joshua died November 29, 1757.

at 46 years of age. She married Joseph Hough June 27, 1745.

37. Elihu7 Yale (Theophilus6, Thomas5, Thomas4, Thomas3, David2, John1) was born May
25, 1703. Elihu died December 31, 1745 in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, at 42 years of age.
He married twice. He married Mary Ives October 1, 1726. Mary died January 1, 1731. He married
Judith Howe January 19, 1732.
Elihu Yale and Mary Ives had the following children:

ii. Elihu Yale was born December 3, 1729. Elihu died August 15, 1797 at 67
years of age. He married twice. He married Elizabeth. Elizabeth died

born October 17, 1732. Stephen died November 22, 1799 at 67 years of age.
He married twice. He married Sarah Beadles in Wallingford, Connecticut, December 28, 1757.
Sarah was born about 1739. Sarah died August 30, 1778 at 39 years of age. He married Phebe Hart
February 24, 1780. Phebe was born about 1745. Phebe died August 10, 1825 at 80 years of age.

She married George W. Ackley in Batavia, Genesee, New York, June 30, 1846. George was born
in Batavia, Genesee, New York November 11, 1819. George was the son of Josiah Ackley and
Sally B. Underhill. George died September 16, 1907 in Litchfield, Hillsdale, Michigan, at 87 years
of age.

5, 1858. He married twice. He married Mary Watson. Her body was

November 10, 1880.
vii. Clara Adell Ackley was born in Pulaski, Jackson,Michigan May 20, 1860.
Clara died in Reading, Hillsdale, Michigan. Her body was interred in
Reading, Hillsdale, Michigan. She married twice. She married Albert
Sewell Drake in Jackson, Jackson, Michigan, August 22, 1883. She
married Thomas Blakely after 1883.

82 viii. Jennie Melvina Ackley was born in Pulaski, Jackson, Michigan July 10,
1864. Jennie died 1956 in Concord, Jackson, Michigan, at 91 years of
age. She married Schuyler Colfax Whittaker in Pulaski, Jackson,
Michigan, October 25, 1893. Schuyler was born in Concord, Jackson,
Michigan March 11, 1868. Schuyler was the son of John D. Whittaker
and Adelaide Susan Rosenbrook. Schuyler died August 31, 1947 in
Concord, Jackson, Michigan, at 79 years of age. His body was interred
1947 in Maple Grove Cemetery, Concord, Jackson, Michigan.
