Hernández, tu maestra de español. Te escribo para notificarte sobre la tarea de verano para la clase de AP Español. Recuerda que la meta para la clase es mejorar la fluidez y comprensión del idioma. Igualmente, estudiaremos sobre la cultura hispana. Hay cinco áreas para trabajar en esta tarea. Como sabes, estudiar un idioma se compone de escribir, escuchar, leer, hablar y conocer la cultura hispana. ¡Nos vamos a divertir mucho en la clase! Te escribo las instrucciones en inglés para que puedas entender mejor. AP Spanish Summer Work-In order to receive full credit, the written work must be submitted the first day of class. General Directions Please do all activities completely and to the best of your ability. I will be using this work to assess your skills upon your return in the summer. You will also receive a grade for completing this work, so do good work to get off to a good start. I believe you will be prepared by next May to do well and my goal is for all of you to pass the AP Exam. It will require self-discipline and dedication on your part as this class will be treated and taught as if it were a college course. Honor Code College students are required to abide by an honor code that forbids them from cheating, lying and stealing, both within the academic world and as members of the college community. I expect the same commitment to honor from you, as a member of a college-level course. What this means is that you are expected to complete all assignments on your own, without consulting native-speakers or translation devices of any kind. Translation devices of any kind are prohibited at all times. No one may EVER proofread your work, suggest changes to your work or make changes to your work unless I have specified these activities within the parameters of peer evaluation. Anyone found in violation of these policies will be subjected to disciplinary action. Also, go to the AP website and look over the test components, old tests, etc. for the AP Spanish Language Exam only (not the Literature Exam). Familiarize yourself with the test so you know where all your hard work is going this next year. Write down your thoughts (in your journal) about what you learn. Pick 10 of them from different countries. Keep a log of the artists, the song titles, and the countries of origin. You don’t have to buy the songs. You can listen for free without buying. Tittle of the song Artist Country of origin Choose one song that you feel strongly about. Write 8-10 sentences in which you: a. Describe what you understood the song to mean, or what you think it’s about. b. Describe what you love or hate about it (and why). c. Research and tell me in Spanish what you found out about the artist. Due date: August 10th, 2017 Appendix B-Reading and Writing Activity Find an online or printed newspaper article, in Spanish, which you think describes the most significant event of the summer. Read the article thoroughly, then plan the argument you will make to the class to convince them that this was, indeed, the most significant event of the summer. You must have a logical and coherent arguments, and you must cite the article to support your arguments. Please don’t pick an article/event that you can’t thoughtfully support with evidence from your article. It must be hand written, double-spaced, and legible to me. Include the number of words at the end of the document. Synthesize your thoughts/reactions into the summary as well. 1. Haz hacer un resumen del artículo en tus propias palabras. Mínimo de 100 palabras. Incluye una copia del artículo con tu resumen. 2. Due date: August 10th, 2017 Appendix C-Writing Activity Write an e-mail to a relative telling him/her some news you have heard about your favorite cousin. Explain how you feel upon hearing the news. Is it good/bad? Are you sad/happy/excited/embarrassed, etc.? Tell him/her all the details. Write 8-10 sentences in your best Spanish. Be sure to use appropriate expressions, courtesy, and letter format. Include appropriate greetings and farewells. Due by August 10th, 2017 Appendix D-Grammar Activities Do at least 10 items for each Grammar topic. You can take a snapshot and save it or print it out. You need to turn it in the first day of class.
