RECYCLE HERE
Our bin follows the same rules as the other recycling bin on campus.
If you’re not sure if something should go in a recycling bin, throw it in the TRASH. Too much
contamination in a recycling bin causes all the contents to be thrown away, NOT recycled.
What can go in this bin?
YES
NO
Paper
coffee, soft drink cups
Cardboard
cardboard food containers
EMPTY aluminum cans
plastic café cups
EMPTY glass bottles and glass jars
plastic food containers
EMPTY plastic bottles, with mouths narrower than body
greasy/food filled pizza boxes
926 plastic bottle caps. 1 plastic bottle lasts ~450 years
(~15 generations). Americans use ~2,500,000 plastic bottles every hour, most of
This bin art is made out of
which are thrown away.
You can send your bottle to a landfill, where it will be inaccessible to future generations, or you can
recycle it. Every action counts.
The purpose of this project is to raise awareness about recycling and environmental consciousness
through art. The bins are decorated with items that can be recycled, but are often thrown in the trash.
Hopefully after seeing and using our bin, Ohio State students, faculty, and visitors will be more
educated about recycling, and become more conscious about how their everyday choices affect the
environment. This project was funded by the STEP program and was completed by Audrey Stallworth
and Alyssa Jones. The bins can be found at the Ohio Union and the RPAC.
