Dream Big—Read! Summer Reading Program Starts at Santa Fe Public Library Come to any branch and sign up during regular library hours, starting at 10:00 a.m.. Then read or have someone read to you to earn credit for prizes and bicycles! Open to all children from birth through age 12. Last year 1100 children took part! The Library is looking for Stellar Readers this summer! Youth who sign-up for Summer Reading Programs can choose a star, sign their name on the star and place it on the Stellar Readers Bulletin Board. Have fun, go to the library’s programs and READ! Studies show that children who read over the summer maintain their reading level and do not lose skills learned in the last grade. The Summer Reading Program runs June 1 through July 28. The program is free. Every week, every branch features a performer—from yo yo masters to musicians to storytellers and each month offers a special craft. The program ends with a party where readers receive a reading certificate and a book, plus there will be refreshments. Friends of the Santa Fe Public Library provide bicycles for grand prizes at each branch. Drawings are held for the bicycles at the end of Summer Reading Parties at each location. All program and craft needs are provided by the Friends.
